Just because it is legal, doesn’t mean it isn’t punishable.
Conversely, just because murder is illegal… doesn’t mean it’s always wrong.
If you kill a man in the heat of battle you’re a hero. If you kill a man in the heat of passion you’re a murderer.
Only we get to talk to the camera

Ed O’Neill hijacks the movie with that line. Brilliant moment in Wayne’s World
Wayne’s World
Clearly, being a woman is a pre-existing condition.
ಠ_ಠ
Things like pregnancy or being a domestic violence victim were considered valid preexisting conditions until they passed Obamacare
Republicans: “A woman’s job in life is to be pregnant.”
Public: “Ok so you’ll offer support for them, yea?”
Republicans: “Absolutely fucking not lol”
How long until Americans make being alive a pre-existing condition
Technically it is.
I’m not saying that should negate any coverage that you are otherwise entitled to… Just that living is the root cause of many issues.
I’ll try and get a cure for it first.
We should all be playing more Luigi’s Mansion. Where’s my gamecube?
Is this code for what I think it is?
Snitches get sti- a stern talking-to, mods.
We’re just talking about videogames.
Yes.
B-but if we had universal health care we would lose all our FrEeDoM!!1! /edit: left out “if”
we’d have death panels!
That’s technically better than what we have now. All we get is a single jackass deciding whether we die or not.
Worse, we have buggy hallucinating AI.
I mean, a Death Panel would have to actually stop and think about the life they’re going to snuff out instead of just going “Can you just die? Our share holders would really appreciate it? No? Eh, I wasn’t really asking anyway…”
At least medically assisted death panels have licensed Doctors on them, and they’re discussing at the patients request. They are not deciding who lives and who dies, just whether or not offering medically assisted death is appropriate for the patient requesting it. Instead of a broken AI just returning ‘coverage denied’ all day.
Meanwhile, Canada has the MAIDS program, with patients being often asked if they need help to kys over some minor, easily solved medical issue.

Rape kits aren’t free? I figured that because it was a response to a criminal action it counted as more legal than medical… guess you learn something new every day…

BEING RAPED IS A FUCKING ELECTIVE PROCEDURE!?!?! ARE YOU FUCKING KIDDING ME RIGHT NOW!?!?!
When I applied for a driver’s license in Texas, they had a list of things that I could choose to pay extra for, one of which was donating money towards testing rape kits. It still infuriates that they tried to pass that off of random people.
One of the biggest scams the American Government ever pulled, was claiming that its responsibilities were actually that of the citizens, and that anyone who expects the Government to do anything but wield an iron fist is a “Whiny snowflake looking for a free lunch”
That’s just a symptom of the actual greatest scam: making people think the government should be a “them” instead of an “us.”
Its responsibilities are those of the citizens. That’s why the government exists: to regulate, pay for, and administrate those responsibilities.
That’s why they exist in theory. In practice they serve a social class that’s very much not “us” except for lip service
Those whiny snow flakes would really fuckin appreciate it if you called them by their proper names, billionaires.
I’m not sure how old the image is, but I know many states (since this shit only happens in one place, it seems) have made laws requiring rape kits to be paid for by the police, even if you don’t want a report. I don’t exactly remember how it works, but you do have to report the crime to the police, so the hospital paperwork gets handled, but you don’t have to have suffer through the interview of a detective or the DA’s office.

Rich, “developed” nation
It is developed, just not in the way you like
Metastasized
The system is working as intended. The rich are getting richer.
I repeat, the system is working as intended.

I’m still hungry. One was not enough.
Brian got off easy, yikes.
He was basically euthanized by comparison to what he and his company did to people.
Euthanasia could possibly even be more painful than a well aimed gunshot to the head
well whatever it is, it’s still not covered by UHC since it was an elective procedure.
dude chose to do what eventually killed him. just like smoking, or drugs, or being raped evidently. all according to UHC anyway.
Obviously if she didn’t want to pay for a rape kit, she shouldn’t have gotten herself raped in the first place.
Sheesh. Women today. What ever happened to them just being subservient to their man from first-blood on?
😂
So because she likely hasn’t the energy to sue, they just lie? Being raped is not an “elective procedure”.
“you could have kept the illegitimate product of rape child”
A rape kit is to collect evidence. It has nothing to do with emergency contraception. The ER can prescribe something like Plan B for that purpose, but it is not something that a “rape kit” does.
Why is law enforcement not paying for it? You know, as part of investigating the crime that took place.
That is an amazing question that we should all be asking our state-level representatives.
My first thought was whether this is the real problem. Giving everyone the benefit of the doubt, is this process when arranged by police covered, but if you pursue it yourself without charges not covered? I know nothing about this specific scenario but insurance companies love their paperwork and loopholes. If you don’t do their paperwork the way they want, they make sure to have a loophole
Why would you pursue it by yourself? I’m not trying to sound judgemental with that question but what purpose does it serve other than evidence gathering?
And what do you think evidence gathering might lead to?
Well if everything in our justice system worked as intended it should lead to a criminal prosecution. Which is why law enforcement should be paying for it. Expecting the victim to do so is asinine.
Of course it’s speculation but the article didn’t mention police. If the police weren’t involved maybe it’s as simple as not wanting to pay for a test which might not even serve as evidence.
What’s the point of getting the kit done at all if the police aren’t involved? Isn’t that what they’re for? To collect evidence of the crime.
Fuck.
He was just the face of the operation - there’s a whole board of directors.
Plenty more room for adjustments
Lots of room for ammunition too.
Holy shit, what a fucking nightmare
If wishes alone could kill, there wouldn’t be a single health insurance executive alive within 24 hours.
I say just don’t pay it. Let them threaten you all they want, they can’t put you into collections for medical debt. Throw out their letters, block their collection numbers from calling you, don’t give those slime balls a fucking penny.
It’s not just about the money, seeing the UHC letter in your mailbox when you are not expecting it will bring back flashes of that night and that trauma.
It’s like knocking on the door of a veteran at random intervals throughout the year too show them pictures of the war. It’s dehumanising.
Is that true?
No, they absolutely put you in collections.
The debt falls off the credit report in several years.
It’s also cleared by bankruptcy, and they can’t go after your relatives for it, excluding your estate, and let’s say that if you have medical debt, your estate probably isn’t worth pursuing.
So fuck em.
Not legal advice.
They can not put you in collections (thank you, Biden). You can lose coverage, and have an opportunity to enroll in the same coverage on the next election cycle.
The system is deeply broken in the USA.
Not all of the things that are broken about the system are making things worse for the civilians.
I never pay my medical debt lol. Under 200 won’t effect your credit btw so never pay bills under 200

First off, how old’s that tweet (or whatever platform that is) you’re attempting to provide with “expert” legal advice?
Secondly: That’s about the worst legal advice I’ve ever seen. There are actual productive approaches, but crumbling up the bills and sticking them in your ears, while going lalalalalalala I can’t hear you? If you’re not even disputing the claim, then you’re about to pay the debt somehow, maybe even through seizure of your property.
Not with medical bills. Most of the time you can get away with ignoring them. They sell them to a collection agency for pennies on the dollar, you ignore the phone calls or demand proof that you owe the money.
And more importantly, KEEP DOING THAT. Sometimes, these collection agencies are scummy as fuck. I had an agency try to collect four times for the exact same ambulance bill. Same account number and everything, and I had records from my insurance that they had paid for the agreed amount and closed the account.
Should have gone with the Jane Doe,
some ceo: 🥱❌‼️😂🤑💲
