This is actually mentioned in the movie, though breifly. In 2 he gets antique glasses from Bones for a birthday present and then in 4 he sells them to an antique dealer and says to Spock after being questioned about them being a present “they will be again” implying that there is only one timeline.
Anyone who knows they showed up then vanished would know they’re at least attempting to help, and didn’t just nope out.
But also from their perspective Kirk & Co head towards the sun, then after a few seconds show back up
