It’s neither kitchen or living room.

The washer is on the “mud room” or “gross kitchen”, which has a doorless wall opening to the combined kitchen/dining area. This layout was common in early 90s suburban family homes and still today.

I don’t really like the layout, but I’ll admit that it’s practical.
