Trump is a terrible liability for humanity.
Does Trump even know what a Communist is?
To be fair, Hasan is a Communist, and has called himself as such in the past. He uses the Progressive and Democratic-Socialist labels more these days for the same reason he wears suits now, to look less threatening to the audience seeing him on TV.
Hasan is more of a communist-sympathizing social democrat. His strategy is overwhelmingly reformist.
At most you might say he’s a Democratic Socialist, because his goal is still to eventuate the abolition of capitalism. He’s a Communist who knows the best available action is political mobilization. He’s certainly not a SocDem who only wants to reform capitalism. He’s openly spoken in favor of worker revolution, but he’s also aware that such a thing isn’t possible in America, at least at this moment.
Democratic socialists are social democrats in practice, considering it is impossible to reform capitalism into socialism. Revolution is absolutely possible, but it isn’t something you trigger, it is a response to crisis with an organized revolutionary class. We need to organize so that crisis turns to revolution.
You’re saying what Hasan says, idk what else to tell you. He’s not trying to reform capitalism into socialism, he’s organizing a political base that will be capable of turning the coming political crises into a productive Communist movement.
I disagree that he is succeeding in that by going through the DSA and focusing so hard on electoralism. It’s important to understand the necessity of democratic centralism and consistent revolutionary rhetoric, because otherwise we fall into the same problems as the second international and the SPD.

If we’re talking just deaths, with his closure of USAID, reductions in health insurance, cuts to CDC, his covid response, etc. Trump has been the cause of millions of avoidable deaths.
Lancet estimates that Trump’s USAID closure alone will kill ~5 million children under the age of five by 2030.
To be fair, USAID is also partially responsible for killing millions. It’s a deliberate tool of soft-power that often gets funneled into the hands of pro-US dictators for military equipment, etc. The role of USAID is to make imperialism seem better.

When dividing by zero as one would to compare the tolls. One is infinitely more than zero. So considering Trump is verifiably responsible for hundreds if not thousands already and potentially millions in the future. That Infinity is only getting larger by the moment.
Ultimately it comes down to the fact that. Anyone that can excuse pedophilia, rape and murder. Is someone that nobody should give a fuck what they think or say.

I don’t know… I will admit the reason he’s fair game and relevant is because he has gone on campaign tours with el sayed and gotten interviews with other DSA candidates. I’d say he’s not relevant to the democrats as a whole, but individuals who bring him to campaign events… are liable in the same way that any republican candidate that invites Kanye or Fuentes is accepting some baggage from them.
That being said, I’d also point out Pikers baggage is just plain stupidly overblown as well. The guy streams for like 8 hours a day. The main “ammunition” against him, is one statement he made 8 years ago along the lines of “America deserved 9/11”. which he admitted he admitted was more of a misphrasing, and meant it as “america is responsible for the conditions that made 9/11 an inevitability”.
