  • I should have been more specific. They don’t buy them television stations, newspapers etc etc etc. Air america, the closest thing they ever had went belly up because no one listened. And what most conservatives slur as msdnc. Is a solidly right wing Channel. More likely to actually hurt a good candidate and then help.

The money Democrats take in every 4 years, is chump change. Republicans and their allies spend that much or more every year.

  • And it needs to be said Fox News is hyperpartisan LOL. Just to drive your point home further. Fortunately I was able to get my parents out of the cable racket. Not that they can’t get the same misinformation elsewhere. But it’s great to not have a one stop sewage dump in your home.

We did the same for my mother’s step mother under the cover of her retirement funds running low and cable being costly. She loved fox news. Would have it on all the time when we were over. I would go on walks to keep from snapping and constantly correcting everything on it. She still finds stuff from time to time now. But it’s usually AI slop voice story time on YouTube. But she has improved.

Part of it is the incessant repetition. Even seeing something with your own eyes. If everyone around you disagrees eventually you doubt yourself. Unless is something you encounter daily to break the spell.

  • States like missouri. Outside our two Urban cores. There are plenty of counties and towns where Democrats are never on the ballot. And it’s not for lack of people capable of filling the jobs. Even on the outskirts of Kansas City here, it is not unusual to see Republicans running unopposed. Democrats honestly just stopped trying or caring. And so did a lot of low information voters here. Yes voting for Republicans absolutely is voting against their interests most of the time. But Republicans are the only ones that show up or seem to care.

Part of that is the copious funding through fashy bourgeoisie. Democrats don’t have a similar benefactor. Instead actually getting a lot of their donations from small donors. But the national party is so selfish and detached. Most of that money never sees a red state.

  • Haha honestly. I didn’t really even read the second paragraph well. No worries.

Though while many here are too indoctrinated and misinformed to ever consider voting for a Democrat. Hell many never even have had democrats running for county and local offices. So I don’t blame them for being skeptical only ever seeing Democrats showing up for statewide office. But don’t mistake that for love of Republicans.

If there were organized local support and recruiting pushing recognized viable local candidates in many of these small towns. Democrats and Republicans would take notice. There definitely are a few wild dumbasses everywhere that are solid Trump fans. But even plenty who vote Republican feel embarrassed by the party. Just slightly less abandoned by it. Because they at least make the superficial effort to seem like they’re interested where Democrats have largely written the state off.

  • To be fair the USSR started with mass death and slaughter. Then continued in with it for some time. Strictly speaking the government never collapsed. Oh sure they loosened their grip on former forcefully conquered vassal States. But the bourgeoisie of the party didn’t go anywhere. They simply gave up the pretense of sharing the means of production. And transition to outright owning them as proper bourgeoisie.

We shouldn’t fool ourselves though. Russia is actually still slowly collapsing as are many governments. Hundreds of thousands of Russia’s sons have been conscripted to fight for a fascist in their very own Vietnam. With a heavy death toll and no end in sight. As day by day the requirements for qualification to be conscripted are broadened. Putin literally just burning away a large chunk of their society. It’s happening, just quietly now that there 4th estate in the US and globally has been captured and stripped bare at the altar of capitalism. Doesn’t matter if it’s east or west. Journalist are regularly fired, disappeared, or just slaughtered for doing their jobs

Define people. Because obviously people don’t here. The average person I talk to IRL on a daily basis don’t know what it is, have never used it, and likely never will. And a system where the people currently pushing this wouldn’t exist would certainly change things.

Your argument basically amounts to “nu uh”.

Yes, I have seen posts on it. Sufficed to say, despite being an anarchist. I don’t have an account there for reasons. And don’t agree with everything they do.

The situation with those bans I might consider heavy handed and perhaps overreaching. But by the same token it’s a bit of a reflection of some of those that are banned. Overzealous and lacking nuance etc.

The funny thing is. They pretty much dislike the tech bros as much as anyone here does. You generally won’t ever find them defending their actions. They want AI etc that they can run from their home. Not snarfing up massive public resources, massively contributing to climate change, or stealing anyone’s livelihood. Hell many of them want to run off the grid from wind and solar. But, as always happens with the left. We can agree with eachother 90%, but will never tolerate or understand because of the 10%.

    PS

We do know the scale. Your use of “the state” with reference to anarchism. Implies you’re unfamiliar with it. Anarchism and communism are against “the state” for the reasons you’re also warry of it. It’s too powerful and unanswerable.

  • And the point of anarchist or actual communist systems is that such scale would be miniscule. Not massive national or unanswerable state scales.

And yes, I’m an anarchist. I know DB0 and their instance and generally agree with their stance - because it would allow any one of us to effectively advocate against it if we desired to.

There would be no tech broligarchy forcing things on anyone. They’d likely all be hanged long ago. And no one would miss them as they provide nothing of real value anyway.
