I guess it might be about time to finally cancel my YouTube premium over this. I already was a bit on the fence after they bumped up the price, this might be the final straw. There’s already plenty of misinformation on the platform as is, no need to let even more proven spreaders on there.

They are swinging with the political wind and falling behind the administration to get favourable legislation and preferential treatment.

If a heap of people die in the process due to misinformation - they don’t care.

      Don’t, be evil.

they been doing that since mid pandemic, the moment they announce they wernt blocking election denial was a red flag, plus also the massive jump in right wing propaganda after they lifted that sanction was pretty obvious.

So you think youtube deciding what people are allowed to talk about is good?

And you dont think that if we let youtube today forbid talk about one thing, even bad, youtube will tomorow forbid talk about something good?

It seems you dont understand how censoore works.

Once again discovering innovative ways to make the platform even less appealing. What will they think of next? Selling the brand to Sinclair media?

and there is already so much covid denial, and propaganda(anti-woke) commentors infesting videos of shows/movies as it is. its going to turn into video platform of Xitter.

plus the large amount of right wing shill, channel owners too.

as in the annoying comments against inclusivity in videos like trek, dr who, sg1.

I swear that feature doesn’t work. I’ve told it to stop recommending TheQuartering to me so many times and he always pops back up.

I get it. But that’s easier said than done when all my favourite channel are there. All I can do for now is keep them off my homepage by making them unfavourable to the algorithm.

At this point, the ethical thing to do is to reupload videos you like to Peertube. Sure it screws the creators, but that’s what they get for continuing to post on a fascist platform.

I get the sentiment. How should creators monetise on PeerTube, though? There are no ads, onboarding is a hassle, PeerTube itself pays nothing for content. Also, running a PeerTube instance is likely going to get expensive fast.

How should creators monetise on PeerTube?

Patreon and merchant and whatnot, same as they do on YouTube already. It’s not as if the pittance Google pays is the majority of their income.

(Also, my comment was about random users uploading videos without the creators’ consent, so that’s really a different discussion.)

Also, running a PeerTube instance is likely going to get expensive fast.

It’s built on bittorrent, you know. The more popular a video gets, the less you have to serve it yourself.

Boycotts are a bucket of water that you use to put out smouldering problems. Use your hose and buckets on the fire before it gets out of control.

But when the problem is growing and it’s an inferno then you call 911. In other words: government oversight is the answer.

i dont login , so they cant datamine, and also im adblocking them at the same time. youtube cant go full-anti-adblock, so they are allowing degenerates and degenerate form of revenues to return.
