It certainly adds to the air of authenticity.

News@lemmy.world•Minnesota prosecutor asks Texas to extradite ICE agent to face charges in shooting caseEnglish
8·23 小时前Blag bag him like ICE does to US citizens.
It was a joke she made for comedy by making the frequency absurdly infrequent. .

Technology@lemmy.world•Boeing 737 Max operators told to check fuselages for cracksEnglish
7·1 天前The real dangerous systems are the ones where problems are covered up and ignored. You will get a false impression that they are safe until it is too late.
Like when Boeing covered up the 737 Max defects that caused them to crash?

No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•Why do seemingly well-adjusted adults find it acceptable to loudly play tiktoks on public transport?English
362·2 天前That doesn’t sound well adjusted to me.
And a third high school might have both because their property values are high!
A forth doesn’t have either because their property taxes are lower.

Gaming@lemmy.world•What part or parts of your favorite game do you always dread doing?English
3·2 天前I second the Mistlands being the least enjoyable part of Valheim.
On top of the things already mentioned the terrain has a lit of elevation changes which makes fighting on a slope more of an issue and it can be easy to fall off a cliff before you make the slow falling cloak.

No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•"Digital Signatures" just ask you to type your name into a box now. Am I right in thinking this almost-completely defeats the purpose of a signature?English
5·3 天前Sure, some people who practice their signature and do it consistently can have theirs tested for consistency but forgery is a thing. I have never had a consistent signature in five decades which confirms the whole ‘unique signature’ thing is bullshit.
The whole point is just having something that holds up for the legal system, and a lot of bullshit does.

No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•What's one cliche "Moral of the story" in media that you hate more than anything else?English
13·3 天前The most interesting villains are objectively correct in their reason for acting but their methods are monstrous because they lost perspective.
A good example is the military antagonists in The Rock, where the military guys have decided that threatening terrorism is the only way to get benefits for vets and some of them decide to actually follow through with it. They were justifiably angry about something valid, but went too far.
Evil just to be evil is rarely engaging.

5·3 天前I mean, that is actually the most successful way of countering racism in real life. Not 100% successful, but better than just trying to talk someone out of racist views.

No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•What's one cliche "Moral of the story" in media that you hate more than anything else?English
31·3 天前There’s an argument that there’s no such thing as an anti war movie.
Some arguments are stupid and that certainly is one of them. It can be difficult to make a movie about war that involves combat not lean into glorifying the violence, but there are movies that only show the horrible side of war without even risking the chance of glorifying violence.
Grave of the Fireflies just off the top of my head.

Technology@lemmy.world•Anthropic AI created fake profiles and impersonated people in attempted hackEnglish
66·4 天前Unprompted……
Bullshit.
From the article:
Two of the world’s most powerful AI tools created fake human profiles to try and trick people in an attempted cyber-attack during testing by the UK’s AI Security Institute (AISI).
Nonetheless, it said the way Mythos and Sol acted in response to a straightforward task went outside of what the AI tools were prompted to do.
Absolute poetry.
