“Steve Miller certainly seemed to make that point to everyone that he wanted it to be cruel. This was what Miller had stated to the DHS at that time, to the DHS director and deputy director. What surprised me was just how adamant the people were that it was going to happen. Damn the consequences. I would say in 25 years of working with the U.S. government, I’ve never been in that position before."
So the Nazis said the exact same thing when they were building their concentration camps. They designed the camps to maximize daily suffering - even for forced labourers who were not imminently bound for the gas chambers. It is a psychological attack - people are much less able to plan escapes or uprisings if they are constantly sick or in pain.
Miller is a good student of history - he draws his inspiration from past masters of evil.
Stephen “PeeWee Himmler” Miller knows his Nazi history inside and out. Let’s make sure he meets the same end.
I prefer to call Miller ‘The Great White Worm’
Not only, that but I always think that the current fascists have learnt from their counterparts: the communists. The latter coordinated internationally while the old school fascists just winged it. Now, the new fascists realised they should coordinate globally like the Communist International have. It’s not a coincidence that there is a surge of the far right across the world.
Im betting he asked chatgpt and this was the advice it gave. Miller doesn’t come off as someone who cares about academics or history.
Thanks, this puts things in perspective
Just about every single person they quoted in that (terrifying) article asked to stay anonymous for fear of retaliation by the government.
This is not normal. This is some seriously dystopian bullshit.
I have a sticker on my water bottle, says “nazi lives don’t matter.” My grandmother asked me if I feel nervous walking around with that, and it just made me think “Why should I feel nervous about insulting nazis in America!?” It’s truly a sign of how terrible everything has gotten. The nazi far-right problem has become so widespread, it’s tendrils stuck so deep into our government, that it makes me question if it is actually safe to be anti-nazi?
The article talks about an ICE detention center that the community railed against, and got successfully cancelled via a court order. But the rule of law evidently doesn’t mean anything anymore, because they are just using it anyway and lying about it. The government is no longer beholden to the checks and balances offered by the judiciary, and that’s fucking terrifying.
IMO the rule of law in this country was finally put down for good the moment the Supreme Court codified “If the President does it, it’s not illegal.”
There may be some disagreement there as to where exactly the rule of law died, but the fact is we are a lawless country now. The only matters of substance are whatever anyone can secure and keep by subterfuge, coercion, and/or brute force. There is no social contract or consent of the governed intact. Anyone looking to prepare for the coming times should keep that in mind.
As an answer, yes, it is dangerous to be an anti-nazi now.
I don’t think it matters if it’s safe in the short term to walk around with stickers like that. It’s important though, even if safety is your primary goal.
Nazi ideology is unpopular. It thrives only by making those opposed to it think and act as if it is widely accepted. If perceived acceptance allows Nazis to gain more power then you will be vastly more unsafe than you are now.
Therefore, if safety is your primary goal then stopping Nazis is one of the most important things you can work towards. It is more important for others to see your resistance than it is to be safe in the short term.
Stephen N. Miller (born August 23, 1985) is an American political advisor serving as White House deputy chief of staff for policy and homeland security advisor since 2025. He previously served as senior advisor to the president and director of speechwriting from 2017 to 2021 during the first Trump administration. Considered one of the most influential figures of the Trump administrations and Trumpism movement, his politics have been described as far-right,[1] anti-immigration,[2][3] and white nationalist.[4][5][6]
Trumpism movement
AKA, the conservative movement. Dump didn’t create any of this; he merely showed up and said the quiet parts out loud.
Go bark up the wikipedia tree. I don’t get to change quotes.
Oh yeah, not directed at you per se. People just need to remember who and what the conservatives are. At 80, donnie may not be around much longer, but we’ll still be stuck with the conservatives after he’s gone.
Republicans were just the larval stage, before they morphed into their final form - MAGA. This has always been the end result.
They’ve always been pretty awful. The “liberal media” often served to plaster on a veneer of civility on the part of conservatives, given how they served as gatekeepers for so very long.
I suspect the mask is off largely because of that gatekeeping being basically gone. Cons tell everyone who they are.
I’d always laugh when people like David Brooks would act like Rush Limbaugh was some kind of fringe element among Republicans. I grew up in a deeply red area and that rings so unbelievably ridiculous. I can bet you most Republicans have no fucking idea who David Brooks is but probably listened to Limbaugh (and his many imitators) every chance they got.
In my view, conservatives == Republicans == “maga” (just a rebranding and basically a cult of personality around Dump, but with all the same culture war bullshit. Sure, they now lap up stupid shit like tariffs, but we’ll see if they snap back on that later).
PeeWee Himmler
He deserves the same treatment
Because the rest of us allow him to dehumanize people.
LOL. Of course.
Because conservatism is a mental illness.
