Yes, anti-science beliefs are not a sign of scientific (or emotional) literacy, and the people who refuse medical science on the basis of politics likely do not understand either topic very well. Their mistrust is also earned by centuries of EuroAmerican imperialism and decades of capitalization on the material and political insecurities in the DRC.
