  • I know commenters will probably be outraged by this sale, but to me this is just the status quo of the modern art scene. The high end art scene hasn’t been about appreciating the art itself since Andy Warhol (at least). The scene is just a bunch of people with too much money all pretending to be intellectuals to each other and buying garbage to prove how deep and meaningful it is. There’s probably also an element of money funny business as well, but I’m not versed enough to say the exact mechanisms, just that I feel in my bones that when people are trading around multi-million dollar paintings among other people in the scene that I am suspicious. There is as much personal expression and meaning in the AI creation as there is in most other pieces being pumped out.

I have exactly as much respect for the AI art generator as I do for the rest of the human high end artists churning out junk for rich people.

  • I don’t know if it’s the actor, or the material causing the actor to bridge a difficult gap. Most of the show has the atmosphere of The Sopranos, but Vic is straight out of a teen drama coming of age movie. He’s younger, more modern, and more casual. I think the actor’s acting fits in much better in the flashbacks or when he was interacting with his girlfriend. But then that same character has to also fit in with the tone of a gritty old fashioned mafia drama, and he can’t play the character too differently from the baseline of being a young fish out of water type, since that’s the whole point of the character.

  • The “lawyer dog” case did not hinge on that.

The suspect,Warren Demesme, did not unequivocally demand a lawyer. He said: “If y’all, this is how I feel, if y’all think I did it, I know that I didn’t do it so why don’t you just give me a lawyer dog cause this is not whats up.”

The finding was that he asked a question rather than making a statement. The “dog” was completely irrelevant in the decision, but you know Internet pop news sites are going to be Internet pop news sites.

You can still think the outcome was expecting too much precision by a suspect and disagree with it, but let’s at least be accurate in criticism/discussion instead of perpetuating meme tier inaccuracy.
