The classic is regime change to prevent the WMDs (use all those expensive bombs up), and then rebuilding contracts and a sweet deal on oil, rare earths, and security.

10·1 day agoWell bless my cotton socks. I thought you were making a joke, luckily I googled it before posting, TIL.

OctoPrint provides a snappy web interface for controlling consumer 3D printers. It is Free Software and released under the GNU Affero General Public License V3.
Its website can be found at octoprint.org.
I’ve found LLMs quite good for identifying things like this sometimes … I also know how frustrating it is to remember and not be able to find the games!
It’s the same in UK, ice is cheaper than cola syrup
You seem to think if I were to write an app for Windows and release it tomorrow that it means Microsoft support my app.
I did not say that at all.
The road outside my house supports cars, lorries, bicycles and foot traffic. If I breakdown on that road the local govt. will not come and fix my car.
I quite explicitly named lutris and heroic which are 3rd party apps. These apps are installable via Discover which is the app store running on the OS. I’d agree the wording could be seen as ambiguous.
Sony and Xbox do NOT support any other app stores on their devices - I think the use of support is clear and understandable in this statement.

3·18 days agoI thought fellowship was a very religiously charged word and implied praying together - turns out I’m likely wrong about the prayer.
Can I just check that the normal well adjusted statesmen and women prayed for guidance, as in they couldn’t just think about the issue, weigh up the pros and cons, evaluate the long and short term consequences, but instead had to appeal to some mystical higher power …!? Wtf is wrong with people.
Steam deck supports Xbox live streaming, gog, epic via lutris and heroic. It’s about as far from a locked down ecosystem as one could possibly get.
Half-Life: Alyx is still the best FPS VR game I’ve played. Great story, environment, production values, variety, everything.

politics @lemmy.world•Mike Johnson says lawmakers should be able to continue owning stocks
01·20 days agoInteresting idea. I can see it as a real disincentive to capable people who might otherwise be interested in politics. I was thinking perhaps they could be limited to index funds. Otherwise a politician might try to hide their deals via a spouse, family member, or even something more extreme.

1·20 days agoGood to see the free market in action. I’m sure this merge will be good for consumers, encourage innovation, and ensure that the barriers to entry are not set too high.

1·1 month agoNo, I don’t feel like a real adult 😅
But I suppose I try to remember lessons I’ve learned and avoid the same mistakes where possible.

Tbh, I quite enjoy the question / challenge. But on the other hand I’ve been a dev for awhile so could also easily give a long list of real world examples of clients asking me ridiculous (and sometimes interesting) questions.
