I’m genuinely wondering if there is any specific game where you noticed that the Linux version was worse than the Windows version on Proton, and how you verified that the Windows version wasn’t just as bad.

9·2 months agoPeople say this but, if advertising didn’t work, companies would have stopped paying for ads long time ago. It works for them, we view ads and then we are willing to pay more for a product that is worth less; it’s this simple.
The only solution for us is to avoid ads at all cost.

For general users: Mastodon and the Fediverse.

3·5 months agoIs this right? Out of curiosity, how do these sites flag themselves as content for adults?
Obviously, this is the solution. Sites that do this correctly, and software that detects the metadata. Parents are the ones that need to choose the correct software and enable the correct settings.
Sites that do not set the correct metadata are legible to be banned by authorities.

Privacy@lemmy.ml•Is Firefox Focus privacy respecting (relatively)?
3·6 months agoI’d rather Mozilla ask for donations than to give me ads and bloatware. I’d be more than happy to donate periodically. If they don’t correct the current course, I’m not sure for how much longer they’ll keep loyal users like me. I’m sick of having to turn a bunch of things off every time, and of having to be vigilant about the new crap they keep introducing.

Linux@lemmy.ml•What will MS do when Linux becomes a serious threat to their monopoly ?
1·8 months agoI think it is clear that it’s just a matter of time that a faster, more secure, free and open source operating system will win over a worse alternative.
I can only think that what they have in mind is a small project with only few people involved. Otherwise anything other than 5 is ridiculous.
