MintyFresh@lemmy.worldto politics @lemmy.world•Trump administration dashes hopes of anti-pollution plan for JD Vance’s home town37·2 days agoI always thought the timing on events surrounding that was super sus. 1st Bernie tricks congress into giving people a weekly check. Que the powers that be clutching their pearls and decrying “nobody wants to work anymore!” Next we have one of the largest influxes of immigrants we’ve ever had, with the border more or less flung open. Lots of cheap willing labor. Lord forbid American workers get a leg up. And once again we’re fighting anything but a class war.
Edit: don’t get me wrong, I’m not hating on anyone who showed up looking for a better life. I hate the powers that be scheming to keep the price of labor low, scheming to sow discord and xenophobia in a crass and clumsy reaction to a huge swath of our population not needing their peon style economic arrangement for a few mere weeks.
I just became a city bus driver a few months ago. It’s not the most exciting job there ever was. I’m in a smaller Midwestern city, so we don’t deal with nearly the amount of bs (violent drug addicts and or mentally ill people) that bigger metro areas get. The pay is decent, not great but enough. The benefits are top notch though. Good pension, best health plan I’ve ever had.

Right!? Don’t get me wrong, fuck Nazis. But their uniforms were on point. This spray tanned fat fuck we’ve got is just embarrassing on every level.
MintyFresh@lemmy.worldto Fuck Cars@lemmy.world•Rivian spinoff Also raises another $200M to build e-bikes and moreEnglish10·8 days agoI have an e bike. Love it! It’s my daily commuter.
People in cars are often too impatient and callously ambivalent about anyone’s safety who’s not in a car. Idk what it is about hopping behind a wheel that makes people so impatient and mean spirited. I mean they’re driving around in an environment so comfortable and convenient it would make the pharos of old green with envy.
The infrastructure for biking, if extant at all, is often jammed in as an afterthought and far less useful, and far more dangerous than your average motorist may realize.
Also there’s a segment of my fellow bikers who bike not because they prefer it to automobiles, but because they’re not functional enough to own an auto, valid license, insurance, etc. This segment of the biking community all too often gives the rest of us a bad look.
And yes, I think a bit of well thought out regulation and enforcement may be in order.

I just looked and it turns out I do have a tea store in town! Just opened in the last few months. Gonna stop in and sniff around a bit
Definitely going to give the lapsing a try. Ty for the rec!
Definitely darker. I’ve been digging the straight black teas. I don’t hate green tea, but I’ve been gravitating towards the breakfast blends.
Ya, I need to get off the bags. I had no idea about the micro plastics. I’m running by my kitchen store here in the next few days and buying a basket strainer.
How do you brew yours? I’ve also seen the little baskets on a string. It seems like that could work. Idk the basket seems like the most straight forward easiest thing to do.
I’m not sure how I feel about the flavors, I always hated them in coffee, I’m hesitant to order flavored tea.
MintyFresh@lemmy.worldto Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•How many of you microwave water for tea?51·10 days agoI absolutely don’t heat water in the microwave! I have a kettle like any other good god-fearing man.
However as a person who recently got into tea I’d love to hear recommendations on tea. I recently got a box of Yorkshire gold that’s been pretty good to me
As a guy who recently got into tea, any recommendations? I got a box of Yorkshire gold, it’s pretty good, but almost tastes a little… chalky? Malty I suppose is the word. It’s good, I’m not complaining, but would be interested to hear recs from someone who knows what’s what
Lol my ex girlfriend had a “karate” teacher growing up. He taught them a few “Japanese” phrases. It wasn’t until decades later she learned this dude just made it all up. I guess it was something you could get away with in early 90’s bumfuck Wisconsin. Like this dude just rolled into town, started “karate” classes, and just kinda went with it.
El lizardo is a great name for a male strip club tho!
MintyFresh@lemmy.worldto Mildly Infuriating@lemmy.world•Thanks to the "you need to buy a new PC for running W11" bullshit, scammers are selling ewaste at full price to inexperienced peopleEnglish1·12 days agoIdk about running sims, but I switched over a yearish ago. It was a release of anxiety I didn’t even know I was carrying around with me. Just a break from the relentless capitalization and enshittification that windows jams down your throat at every given moment. It’s so nice having a system that doesn’t spy on me, does what I want when I want it, and never locks me out for any reason. I don’t have to reset the privacy settings after every update. It works faster too. 10/10 recommend.
