I always read this as shardware.

I always read this as shardware.

I do mind not being accessible to the average person.

Not sure how to explain how imagination works.
Unless you meant something else?

Are you saying website owners are always located in the country their .tld belongs to?
🤯
I’m looking for solutions here, so I did go to the actual site and checked before I wrote the above.

Interesting free tier option:
Feeling broke?
Instead of paying, you can leave us a friendly message or tell us how you use PageKite, and get free service in return.
And they’re from Iceland. And GDPR-compliant. And FOSS.
❤️❤️❤️
I think we have a winner. Let’s see how they respond to my explanations.

tl;dr: agentic AI.
If you don’t know what that is, read the article. IMO it is right, clickbait title phrasing excused.

Ah, OK. There’s no marketplace for self-made Debian packages that I know of, but of course it’s still possible to make them, even create your own repositories and add them to your apt. And in good old Debian fashion it’s going to be way more low-level, and confusing to find definite documentation. One thing I’m seeing again and again is dpkg-deb and other dpkg-* commands.

Pity makedeb is unmaintained. But maybe still usable?
Well done! I hope you wrote a tutorial on the process?

Thanks. Based in NL is certainly a plus.

Thanks, this looks good.
will ask for cc details.
So far I never had any problems making stuff up there.

That’s good to hear 👍

OK fair enough. What would be the “right” community then?
I’ll add to that:
Does me lending a book from the library not count?
The article is too much about direct remuneration. It reeks of a failed business-person’s bitterness.
It’s not all about the money, and every artist should know that.
The article is just ragebait. And it’s 10 months old. It speaks poorly of OP that they felt the need to share it. There are much better ways of starting this discussion.
Thankfully there is an archived version and it’s every bit as pretentious and dumb as its thumbnail and its title suggest. And then they have the nerve to sign as if they were speaking for Artists writ large.

I’m used to the sheer convenience of the AUR.
Famous last words. But if you really know how to use the AUR you can create your own PKGBUILDs for whatever it is you want.
What do you want? Your OP sounds like you want to combine different package management systems.

Well good. The sentence I quoted from only talks about accusations though. And the blurb seems to contradict itself in the very next sentence, citring several more “rare” examples.
I have nothing against ArsTechnica (yet) so I guess it’s just bad phrasing.
Thanks for sharing.
