A mine just reopened in eastern Utah, but the industry has changed.
workers to exploit
🤷🏼♂️ All work under capitalism is exploitation.
No problem. Arrest people, incarcerate them, then lease them out as slave labor. Oh wait, Alabama beat them to it.
It’s not just Alabama 🙁
Pay more
no
Your problem, then.
Alternate title: Utah’s coal mines not paying enough to compensate workers.
Alternate Alternate Title: Utah has coal mines in 2024.
People are just lazy nowadays. They expect money for garbage like rent, food, and clothes. Think about the mine owner. He only has a 40ft yacht and six house.
I love having a chance to post this image.
A timeless classic
That’s updated every 2 years.
Said it first time, and I’ll say it again. 2022 - even executives don’t agree. 1 in 5? Whole 20% of them. 80% of people who have in their best interest to milk you dry still didn’t agree people don’t want to work. xD
I don’t see why percentages matter. What matters is who controls the message.
Marshall McLuhan agrees … The Medium Is the Massage
And the only people who really paid attention to that are the ones who now control the message.
Tale as old as time.
Also “it’s Joe Biden’s fault that I’m poor and can’t afford gas for my F350 or groceries!”
How else will people know I’m totally straight?
$150 in gas, lol.
Covid screwed up things further, people didn’t go to work during the lockdowns and still survived, so why go back after the lockdown?
I mean who doesn’t want to have a career in a dying energy supply, that causes serious health problems, and doesn’t pay well enough?
Such a mystery.
Nobody wants to work any more!
Republicans: I know! Let’s bring back child labor! They yearn for the mines.
Aren’t all the tech companies laying off thousands of people? Could retrain them to be coal miners.
I mean, I love black lung and being in claustrophobic, dark spaces thousands of feet below the surface of the earth as much as the next guy, but how’s their Wi-Fi?
. . . Good?
A career in the coal mining industry doesn’t seem very promising in 2024.
Wasn’t Trump supposed to save that sinking ship? At least I remember hearing promises like that.
Yes, he promised this in 2016. The numbers speak for themselves:
Edit: Changed the graphic, link to source
WTF happened in the 80s?
I couldn’t find anything specific to the 1980s, but this graph shows that coal production was rising betwen 1940 and 2008. Apparrently, they needed less and less workers for even more output.
Edit: source
It’s probably when those giant ass dump trucks and automation began to take over as technology progressed.
Trump promises a lot.
Yeah, well that’s how politics work. A politician makes voters think they would be great in office. Voters vote, and turn that dream into reality. The politician fails to deliver. Another politician says that they would be better than that other politician. Rinse and repeat.
we could just round up all the immigrants and put them in prison and make them work. Oh wait…
You could also have a dedicated organization for that purpose. I think we should call it the Governmental United Labor and Assimilation Group, or GULAG for short. oh wait…
Could? Will.
Well. When you’re on the wrong side of the supply vs demand situation, you need to pay the piper, I mean miner.
But silicosis is so popular these days!
