It’s the biggest instance but not necessarily representative of Lemmy as a whole. There’s a lot out there, including some pretty unsavoury stuff. Lemmy.world is probably the most mainstream instance and the closest to Reddit, which lemmy was modelled on. The .ml instances tend to be authoritarian left which is often expressed by vigorous denial of any wrongdoing by the CCP, while viewing the US as the literal devil. But while these people tend to be very vocal, they don’t represent the majority here.
