I’m looking to go away in March (from UK), I normally like to pack a tent onto my bicycle, find a ferry to to Europe and explore. But this time I think I’d like a short trip somewhere hot, no cycling. I’m looking at holiday websites but it feels a bit like when I’m in the supermarket trying to find a particular product on the shelf, there’s just too much going on and I feel paralyzed and dumb. Tell me how you do yours so I can get some inspiration please :)

I usually just pack some stuff, get in the car, and start driving towards something cool. No plans, no reservations, no specific goals, just go where the road goes and live on impulse. If I don’t raw-dog it like this, then much like you, I get very easily overwhelmed and paralyzed by vague choice, which leads me to very quickly giving up on the whole affair. This way of going about it usually pisses most people off, but just make sure you have everything you might need (phone, keys, wallet) and you’ll be totally fine. Also, my partner-in-crime likes to plan EVERYTHING, so I guess we kind of balance each other out on this front.

My main point here is that if making decisions isn’t working out, then stop deciding things and just do something, anything. The rest will always follow if you let it.

I’ve always wanted to do just. Just a random road trip with nothing planned. Just stay at whatever lodging I find.

        Do it!

Take a tent if possible or, worst case, sleep in the car. I know this might not apply to most countries, but in the US there is this thing called BLM land where you can camp and pretty much do whatever entirely for free.

Also, piece of advice, don’t half-ass the ‘fuck it’ adittude, you will not have a good time. Set some basic goals like maybe destination, trip length, or cool things to see, but that’s it. Now go have an adventure . . .
