For me an office is so foreign, lol. Maybe it’s partly because my car has functionally been my home multiple times in my life. But there is also something so comfortably isolating about being able to lock myself in the car with some music where nobody can talk to me and the chaos of the world can be left in the rear view mirror for a bit.

I think everyone needs a space like that just for themselves, and needs to create it for sanity purposes. You’ve chosen your office and I the shitty little Civic Si sitting in the drive, and both are simultaneously boring tools and personal sanctuaries.

It’s just corporations and rich assholes running the show and they absolutely do not give a fuck about anyone but themselves, especially if the anyone is poor ordinary. The only way to solve the issue is to completely remove these entities from the equation and start making our own protections.

For power tools just pick your favorite color and stick to it. All the big brands are the same except for their special lil’ batteries. For everything else, buy cheap tools (Harbour Freight, garage sales, Amazon, eBay, etc.). When you wear them out / break them / otherwise need to replace them, that’s when you can justify spending a bit of money to get good tools. Plus at that point you’ll have a much better understanding of the tool and thus what you want or need for the tool to best serve you.

Or be like me and spend too much time/money finding a tool that might be good only to never use it because brain says, “I’m bored, find new hobby” every couple of business days.
