I landed on the waiting list like many of you, but that’s okay, it gives me more time to read feedback and experiences from folks who buy one in the first round.
While we wait, what games do you actually want to play on the Frame when you get yours? Please specify if it’s a VR title or non-VR title (unless it’s a super popular one like Hades or Portal that everyone will recognize).
I went through the Steam store “great on frame” listings as well as the overall VR listings, and IMO it’s quite a mixed bag. There’s fairly good variety but many of the “overwhelmingly positive” titles are relatively old, like even 2017-2022. And many of the newer titles don’t seem to have a lot of players yet.
Of course, if you have no intention of ever buying a Frame or want to discourage others or even hype some other device, please just refrain from commenting. This simply isn’t the thread for you.
Why would highly reviewed games being older be a bad thing? Those are the most likely to run well on Frame.
Older games are awesome and cheaper than grabbing something right at release. If anything, something being newer gives me more pause since the issues haven’t been worked out.
Oh 100% I’m a longtime Patient Gamer so I know exactly what you mean. I just meant to say that playing older games (as in maybe 5-10 years after release) tends to be a different experience than something released maybe 2-3 years ago that happened to hit a deep discount. The tech landscape changes and maybe now you can fully max out the settings, including high res texture mods and an ENB that weren’t possible before, that sort of thing.
Or maybe you can’t do any of that so it feels a bit crusty and letterboxed, that happens too.
