It’s interesting that some of these replies are listing dozens of games that they’ve played, as if dipping into each one and then moving on to another.

In the “flat screen” world I have maybe four favourite games with thousands of hours in each - and I’m not getting the impression that VR people are finding games with that level of interest.

BeamNG has VR support if you hate yourself and want an express ticket towards motion sickness.

I am excited to finally have standalone Beat Saber, as a PC VR only user that never owned a meta device it will be nice to finally take Beat Saber wherever I want.

Chants of Sennaar (a flat game) also just got verified today, so I will probably play that. I think it also might be time to play Half Life Alyx again, maybe I will try playing through the whole thing standalone.

And I will probably also stream some of the other games I have been playing (Resident Evil Requiem, 007 First Light, and finally playing the Indiana Jones DLC).

Why would highly reviewed games being older be a bad thing? Those are the most likely to run well on Frame.

Older games are awesome and cheaper than grabbing something right at release. If anything, something being newer gives me more pause since the issues haven’t been worked out.

I’ve already got a pretty large library, so I’ll give some recommendations (mostly older as haven’t had much time of late). All PCVR as I prefer buying on Steam:

• Synthriders - rhythm game like beat saber but more dance focused

• Dirt Rally 2.0 - not sure what the status of sim racing on Linux (and the Frame currently) but a great experience if you’re at all into racing

  • Automobilista 2 - similar quality but track instead of rally-focused

• Doom 3 Fully Possessed Mod - Doom 3 mod. I never really enjoyed the original game but in VR it’s a lot of fun (and scary). Looks like the github repo has gone, so not sure where to find it today

• Eleven Table Tennis - Just what it appears to be, a nice table tennis again with somewhat realistic physics. Suprisingly fun.

• Half-Life 2: VR Mod - For when you’ve played Alyx to death and want something similar. A greater challenge as well since it wasn’t designed as an intro to VR.

• Ragnarock - Another rhythm game that has a kind of viking drumming motif with a more rock/metal focused soundtrack

• Sniper Elite VR - A bit janky but feels like an oldschool WW2 game but in VR. Maps are a lot smaller than the mainline series though, likely due to standalone limitations.

• The Walking Dead: Saints & Sinners - This one has had controller issues with the open source Linux stack, but hopefully it will work well with the Frame. Semi-open world survival horror game with fun combat being the main draw. There’s also a sequel/DLC but I haven’t gotten to it yet.

• Crysis VR - The original Crysis in VR. The game in flat never really grabbed me, but is a lot more compelling as a VR game (although I’m a bit more prone to nausea with this one). See: https://crysis.vrmods.eu/

• UEVR mods - A bunch of games with unreal engine support this. A bit of a pain to setup and the quality of the experience varies, but opens up a lot of conventional games. See: https://uevr-profiles.com/

EDIT: I also suggest digging into the Steam Workshop mods for Alyx. There’s a lot of good content there, and you get the fantastic Alyx engine and gunplay.

I had an hp reverb g2 before Microsoft killed it. I’m using the frame to get back into VR after all that time.

I’m looking to use big screen again occasionally. I’ll probably see where VRchat is at nowadays. I never finished half life alyx so I’ll be doing that. Tabletop simulator I believe supports VR so that’ll be neat to try.

Edit: oh I forgot I used to play dirt rally 2 in VR all the time, that was great. I think they stopped supporting VR in their newer games so I’ll probably just stick with that one.

I have been building a backlog of both VR-native and VR-moddable games. I already own an Index and a Quest 3S. The latter I bought second-hand on the cheap and it really sold me on SteamVR streaming over WiFi. I have been waiting for the Frame in order to get a “modern VR” experience (wireless, pancake lenses, higher resolution, inside-out tracking, foveated rendering).

I’m really excited about playing Hellish Quart in VR. I haven’t played the non-VR version because I’m not interested in button mashing.

Long story short, I’m in the SCA, so I do a fair bit of sword fighting, though not fencing. Wanting to see how well VR can do it.

Other VR titles I’m looking forward to are Half Life: Alyx, Skyrim VR, Fallout VR, Boneworks, and I still need to see if there’s a VR mod for Kingdom Come Deliverance because if there’s one that’d likely be good too

Of note, Metal: Hellsinger VR is that far down the list because it’s apparently a bit brutal for people new to VR. Very fast movement, not for weak stomachs. Half-life Alex. One genre i suppose will be Eurotruck Simulator 2, and American Truck Simulator. I have around 150 VR games, so i’ll be revisiting a lot of experiences like arcades, pinball, bowling, golf and other physical games like BoxVR and Beatsaber. I also love sword fighting games, rpg’s, etc. Also looking to play around with the colored pass-thru camera from Arcturus, but that will be bare bones for some time as people start making applications for that medium. Also normal flatscreen/pancake games. I’ll be mostly streaming from my more powerful PC to the headset. Don’t downplay older games either, there’s some decent quality games out there. Just because a game isn’t listed as “great on frame” doesn’t mean you can’t play them.

Other suggestions are good but also: Tetris effect.

Doesn’t seem like a big deal, I don’t really like Tetris, but I really enjoyed it. And didn’t really like it trying without VR afterwards.
