When pretty much every aspect of our lives relies on machines, from PC to Servers, to Laptops, to Cell phone, and all the sites on the net. (no offense lemmy.world). Kind of seems a little bit late now to put in safe guards.

Its barely possible to regulate the things you mentioned. Given that AI is effectively information its impossible to prevent it moving around. Short of regulating all computers it’s not happening.
Not stopping the government all over the world from putting age gates on the internet.
Hate speech is also information. Also all information on the internet is tracked anyways. Even Al Capone was arrested for tax fraud.
Tech companies still have to pay taxes, meet health and safety standards, have vacation pay etc

Age gates are easily bypassed, hate speech is everywhere online, and tech companies don’t matter when open source models are able to be run on a standard gaming machines or server.
Restricting information has never worked well.
It’s not about absolutes. Speeding laws don’t stop speeders, obviously. But we still have them and many people drive slower with the threat that they may have to pay a ticket or might lose their license.
Also there is a real world that exists outside the internet and people and corporations can be coerced by the government if it wills it.
