Shes literally wasting coffee
Not if she drank it all
Just making pasta water coffee itself is a waste. Doesnt matter if she drank it all.
This is the cup of coffee you replace your most hated coworker’s with.
How do you take your coffee?
“Al dente.”Just freeze the pasta water, then you can reuse it for the next pasta and you don’t need new boiling water
Better yet, keep it boiling and save the heat as well.
Perpetual pasta.
Use the pasta steam to run a turbine to power the stove
Like those ancient Chinese broths. My pasta water has boiled for ages
You missed the joke
I didnt, I was adding to it.
Keeping the stove running clearly wastes way more energy than just freezing the hot water for use at any time??
Sure, but you are forgetting the convenience.
Freezing and thawing the pasta water is a huge waste of energy. Might as well just get new water from the tap.

Thanks. I thought it might be a joke but I really couldn’t tell. Some people really do think we should try to save water at all costs, not realizing that electricity is often more precious than clean water.
No no. You freeze the boiling water then when you thaw it out it will be boiling again. Ezpz
Hold up, pasta for breakfast, is that the real hack?
I mean carbonara is basically bacon, egg, and cheese pasta…
ITS NOT BACON ITS GUANCALE REEEEEEEE
It was bacon first. Food purists are one step away from ethnic purists.
Never considered carbonara a breakfast, but I guess I’m gonna have to try it now.
I think this is Italy. Are they eating pasta every meal of the day?
The step before we missed.
Hey y’all made pasta from my toilet water. #noflush
What’s more wasteful, throwing away used pasta water, or using one-use coffee filters?
Don’t worry! The coffee filter will see many more uses too! 😊
Then eventually it will have enough starch to be used as pasta. You can make a stuffed pasta like a ravioli or tortellini. You could fill it with the coffee grounds, which you would also save.
I think a lot of people fail to understand the difference between “waste” (verb) and “use” (verb)
Just keep using the same water to boil pasta instead of throwing it!
And ffs, use a moka to make the coffee.
Moka Coffee
Cafe in San FranciscoWhat’s a mokka?
Sorry, moka, a typo. It’s this:

A traditional italian coffee machine. It’s made in aluminium or steel, and the filter is also on the same material so you don’t have to use one every time. They are extremely durable, with some passing from parents to children.
Is it easy to use? Won’t it burn easily on the stove top?
Just put the water in the lower part (fill it just below the safety valve), add ground coffee to the filter, close it and put it into the fire. When the coffee is starting to get ready, you’ll hear the charasteristic “gargle” and when it’s done, a “whistle”.
It’s pretty easy to prepare coffee on them and I’d argue they make the best coffee of all.
Here a pic of an open moka so you can see the filter and the rest of the parts of it. It’s a different model but it only changes the form factor.

Nah they’re like a better percolator, pretty easy to use.
I mean is it really wastefull to throw away pasta water though?
Just put it in your plants
…at room temperature and assuming you did not salt or oil the water.
AKA made shit pasta
You don’t put salt in your pasta water?
What in my comment makes you say that?
It sounded to me like you were equating putting salt/oil in pasta water to making shit pasta. The oil part I understand as it is literally useless but most people put salt in pasta water which is why I was confused by your comment
You need to combine the 3 comments. You can put the pasta water into your plants - assuming you made pasta without adding oil or salt to the water - AKA making shit pasta
You use the starch to thicken sauces!
Sure but what else? If I am not making sauces I will just throw it away.
You should always be making sauce when you make pasta. Even if you are using jarred sauce, throw some of the (previously salted, you did remember to salt the pasta water before you cooked the pasta right?) pasta water in a saucepan and saute it then add the sauce and simmer. When it thickens up enough, add the pasta to the sauce and enjoy.
I usually make the sauce before since it takes longer and I don’t add any water or thickeners.
You should try adding some pasta water at the end and simmering. Its a subtle but nice difference.
You can thicken soups too, anything you’d use flour to thicken.
I don’t thicken soups usually
You can also thicken stews and whatever Chicken Pot Pie is.
I’d have to save the pasta water then and that just makes no sense
I think its fine to leave the pot on the stove for 24 hours. After that, if it hasn’t been boiled, I’d dump it.
It’s about using something else’s water for her coffee, so she doesn’t use more water.
ZERO WASTE
Just chug the pasta water. All of it!
Pasta TEA
How to upset the Italians and the British at the same time
Finally, an economical way to get more starch into coffee!
