Well it’s not sarcastic, it’s factually correct. The tariffs are a tax on us that goes to the government. Whether that’s bad or not isn’t really embedded into your text. So it becomes a mirror for the reader.
If you talked to a couple and they told you they spend $20,000 per year eating out, you might be shocked. If you know or find out that they are a pair of married plastic surgeons, you might think that’s high but whatever it’s a couple of percent of their income.
That’s OK, since our tariffs tax is giving the government even more.

The sarcasm part would be that the tax makes it ok that the spending is high.
