It’s actually good UX practices to do this. You light up a path to get a result (pressing the start button to continue to the menu), and then a large segment of people will continue to press start, even if they’ve previously stumbled upon the fact that any button will work

You also don’t have to tell computer minded people inconsequential rules, they’ll figure it out themselves pretty quick

So by choosing an arbitrary button for the instruction, you remove a meaningless “choice” that genuinely lowers the friction for a large chuck of the population

There are also people who, if you tell them to press any key, they will happily mash the function keys and be confused and upset that unexpected things are happening

There’s even a select few who will physically look for the any key every time just to make sure it’s not suddenly been added to their keyboard, and there are even the special few that will hit the power button and get angry because they think you’ve caused them to break their computer

Some of these people have higher degrees too…I didn’t believe it until I saw it for myself

I’d compare it to 1984, which was similar in that the ideas communicated were the main point, but it also had a strong narrative that much better communicated the human experience of those ideas

I think there’s a misunderstanding of the math going on here. A key is lower entropy than random noise, but it’s not what crypto works on - it’s about computation

You’re not pulling order out of the ether, you’re calculating a solution to a math problem. Normally, it’s an n-p complete problem, meaning it’s just difficult to calculate conventionally. It’ll take n amount of computation cycles, meaning with a large amount of computing power you can break a key in x time, and there’s no known short cuts

Unless there is a short cut - some key methods have been defeated through math, making them trivial to solve. Others have been defeated through increase in computing power, meaning longer key lengths are necessary

In the same way, some key methods are theoretically trivial for quantum computing to solve, while others are quantum resistant

The more money moving around the more seperating out the money flows makes sense. A dozen or two bank accounts for mid sized company is pretty reasonable. A big one might have a dozen per department

What is a bank account but a digital box to put numbers in anyways? It costs next to nothing per account, but clear delinitation of the money makes it a lot easier to make sure it’s going to the right place instead of being pocketed

Or alternatively, lots of accounts could make it very difficult to make sense of. But that kind of deliberate obsfucation might trigger some kind of anti money laundering alerts
