That is spot on! I grew up in the 90s with mixed joints, I can’t smoke pure herbs without throwing a fit. It is somewhat tolerable with a good vape and long hardened homegrown, but I still prefer my oldschool bong-mix. At least we have active coal filters these days…

  • That is a nice NAS, when I got my Terramaster F4-420 I immediately upgraded RAM, put a SSD in the hidden 5th slot and installed TrueNAS. Almost overkill since I only need it for some NFS shares now, but in the beginning I was experimenting with iSCSI partitions and that was real fun. Also the firmware back then allowed for full virtualization, so I was running a homelab for testing and education.

  • I use one of these for the first two phases in a cannabis cycle, seedling and first growing stage. I have two Phillips MASTER PL-L with 4000K / 55W / 4800lm. They are very good for root develpment, but the low wattage means theres not enough oomph for bigger plants and your yield will suffer. Your regular growlight comes with 200W+ and different color for the flower cycle.

I’d say they are great for your first plants, but you will eventually upgrade.

  • Am I hearing that I just need to switch to Bazzite and this problem disappears??

Yes, simple as that. I use Bazzite for ~2years now on my main desktop with nvidia and a legion go. It really is “install and forget it’s linux”. It’s almost too good to be true…let’s hope the big “enshitification” doesn’t follow soon.

I’d expect that Bazzite and Mint would use the same Nvidia proprietary drivers

Expect a big leap in performance, they do a lot of magic with the kernel on Bazzite. It’s really fun.

  • Can you still install an OSS alternative instead of their locked OS? I am using a F4-420 with TrueNAS for more then 6 years now, as I remember they changed something in their firmware so you are not able to install another OS anymore. But I can be wrong, my Terramaster runs just fine on TrueNAS (community edition). It’s an awesome and trouble free NAS.
