With all the rhetoric around mail in ballots, I know I would try to get mine in before election day. I was about to finish typing when I realized I’m the type of person to forget to put it in the mail box until election day.

What does the venn diagram of horse girls and neurodivergence look like? (I’m actually curious, not trying to make an inference to one extreme or the other).

I agree with your points and I’m also not American. Just prefacing to make clear I’m not arguing, just trying to spread hope. I saw a petition yesterday morning that was already at half a million signatures demanding Jeffries not be made speaker. The speed it grew indicates to me there’s weight behind it. Kinda like posts, comments, and upvotes; there are way more lurkers who are agreeing silently. (I’m not an LLM, I just like semicolons. Even if I’m not always 100% sure I’ve used it correctly).
I think there’s some regional variation and it’s been a number of years since I’ve done it but for making jerky with wild game you just need to freeze it for a minimum amount of time to eliminate the risk from parasites. Not all animals are infected with ones that will impact people but definitely not worth taking the risk.

How would you differentiate your skill from perfect pitch? I just replied to a different comment they might gave perfect pitch. Identifying a pitch without reference is one of the things identified on the wikipedia page. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Absolute_pitch

Sounds like you might have perfect pitch which only ~1 in 10,000 have. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Absolute_pitch

The other part of this that’s notable is they’re substituting in corn in place of rice. Corn production is heavily subsidised in the states. This is also part of the reason why there’s so much high fructose corn syrup in their food and they turn a ton of corn into ethanol.
It’s cut just a little too short to be Paul Rudd. I need to see Mac at the end and Conan laughing throughout.

I upvoted your gratitude comment, I’m not a huge commenter but I’ve done similar. There’s so much decisiveness and bickering from miscommunication and misunderstanding that it’s nice seeing when people support each other through it.

For what its worth I do it the same as you. I feel accomplished when I get it all in one round but that only happens with the easy puzzles at the beginning of the week. I have a goal of completing a puzzle on just the first pass of accross clues without having to use any down clues.

Listening =/= conceding or taking action

It’s a refernce to Chris Farley’s movie Tommy Boy.

I think it has the potential for allowing more people to pursue artisanry. Ideally we get the LLMs to start tackling the drudgery so more people are freed up to pusue the work they’re passionate about.

Oof, that was pretty funny.

I agree with you, I recently explained it to a group of engineers and techs.

Fair points. I’d advocate for some labelling to indicate that it’s a repost and not true OC. I didn’t do a broader search into the user’s behaviour but looked at the community quickly and they’ve been the only one posting content here for a month.
I haven’t read them yet but it looks like there’s more comments on this post now. I think interaction within this community, even without the reddit OOP, provides the value for me to differentiate it from slop i.e. pull it out of reddit and (presumably) real people are discussing it.

I appreciate the reposts. I’m not going on Reddit and I like a little light fluff in my feed, Lemmy’s low user count makes it hard for this to happen organically. All the people that complain can easily block you or could choose/make/contribute to communities that prohibit reposting.

I haven’t read the article but what’s described in the headline is abhorerent. Ironically the technology could be used to identifying times when artists’ identities are being misattributed or stolen. Pretty simple for an artist to define their portfolio then have a bot flag anything it finds with their signature on it that they didn’t create themselves.

The backlash was because your response is ambiguous, it was likely interpretted by the people criticizing you as a legitimate question rather than your intended sarcasm.
I’d expect most or nearly all people active in this conversation agree that parasocial relationships are bad but you’re continuing on like their criticism of your communication is an endorsement for celebrity worship.
It’s crazy to think of all the possibilities. I won’t have any less desire to do my job than I currently do, maybe even more because the other external parties we interact will also have their profit motives reduced or eliminated.
I’m fortunate I work in a career that’s partially aligned with my passions and interests. It’s also a privately owned company where the owner I work closest with makes decisions by asking the staff “will this make things better for our customers?” Followed by “will we make a little bit of profit?” which I interpret as can we keep the business running and make sure we can take care of our employees and colleagues? If we answer yes to those we’re running the projects we pitch him. He cares about the right things, not making more money for himself.
