Good thing they kept the “Meta” name. Very fitting now that everyone knows they’re at the end of their existence as innovators and are just Meta-slaves to whatever bubble is blowing up next.
Not a fan of anything past DS9 either. Voyager by it’s nature was too far removed from the familiar setting of the original/TNG and the ever simmering political tension between the Federation/Klingons/Romans.
The main characters in Voyager were also not terribly compelling. I personally found lots of side characters in TNG like Barclay and O’Brien were just way more interesting than relatively forgettable main characters in Voyager like Harry Kim, Chakotay, or Torres.
Towards the end they entirely leaned too far into tired borg shit. But hey it was was good for star trek related memes at least :>

21·9 days agoI think it has less to do with appearances than the popularity of issues/people they choose to pursue with their actions.
Luigi off’ed someone pretty much universally reviled across political spectrums. Probably a good 80% of people could sympathize at least a little with what Luigi did. Every adult has probably had extensive personal experience dealing with the dysfunction of our healthcare system. Brian Thompson is just the personification of that.
Tyler did a perfect one-shot with the most hilarious timing on someone that was loathed by ~50% of the country and liked by the other ~50%.
The two issues have a fairly wide gap in universal appeal.
Technology, especially that which you didn’t fully understand, is basically magic and magic is very interesting 🪄

The gaming scene outside of AAA studios has been about as vibrant as it’s ever been.
Most of the nominees for GOTY have been AA studios at best and this was a stellar year imo with titles like Silksong, Hades 2, Kingdom Come Deliverance 2, Clair Obscur, Blue Prince, Dispatch, and The Alters to name a few!
Some dude pushed himself to finish it all in a weekend because he had a busy week ahead and was in shambles. Man was not made to handle that much feels in such a short period 🥲
The only game I’ve ever pre-ordered was FF3/6 but that was because you needed a physical cartridge in limited supply to play it back then.
Preordering a game you can download digitally is the height of stupidity unless you specifically want to give an interest free loan to a creator you really want to support
Please don’t buy it and let the thieves at ZA/UM profit off the game they stole from the original creators. Pirate it instead as the creators have encouraged.

Shouldn’t be spending money on this game anyways. The original creatives behind the game got screwed by some suit that currently runs ZA/UM. The creators have actively encouraged people to pirate the game as to deny the thieves running the company any ill-gotten profits.
