No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•What is the best way to drop 50lbs in two months without spending alot and no fad diets?
2·29 days agoThis is about the only right answer here. I am currently doing something very similar to this, but with some days where I eat more. But even going to this extreme, you probably won’t be losing 50lbs in 2 months.
I am also exercising. Zone 2 walking and weight lifting to maintain and build muscle.
You could try a 3 day fast as well. A full 72 hours. Only water, coffee, or tea. No cream. No sugar. No nothing. See how well you can get through that.
Even with my modified diet, it can be very difficult at times. I am also being monitored by a doctor where I check in every 2 weeks or reach out if I have issues with anything. So, I am being heavily monitored right and would not recommend this method without a doctor present.
That’s pretty funny. “Supabase-analytics will shit itself again sometime around noon.”

News@lemmy.world•Trump says he may punish countries with tariffs if they don’t back the US controlling Greenland
1·1 month agoI was. You can’t conflate what politicians do and what the government does as “this is what the country is all about”. There are plenty of reasons to be proud of your country. The reason I am no longer proud is just the sheer amount of stupidity in people these days. It really feels like we are going backwards.
But here’s the thing, America isn’t the only country going backwards.

221·1 month agoGod I hate what my country has become. No country is perfect or will ever be, but I can no longer say I’m proud to be an American. Fucking sad.

Technology@lemmy.world•A generation taught not to think: AI in the classroomEnglish
20·2 months agoRecently had to lay someone off because they just weren’t producing the work that needed to be done. Even the simplest of tasks.
I would be like we need to remove/delete these things. That’s it. It took some time because you had to just do some comparison and research, but it was a super difficult task for them.
I would then give them something more technical, like write this script and it was mostly ok, but much better work than the simple tasks I would give.
Then I would get AI slop and I would ask WTF are you thinking here. Why are you doing this? They couldn’t give a good answer because they didn’t actually do the work. They would just have LLMs do all their work for them and if it requires them to do any sort of thinking, they would fail miserably.
Even in simple PR reviews, I would leave at least 10 comments just going back and forth. Got to the point where it was just easier if I would have done it myself. I tried to mentor them and guide them along, but it just wasn’t getting through to them.
I don’t mind the use of LLMs, but use it as a tool, not a crutch. You should be able to produce the thing you are giving the llm to produce for you.
This is really interesting. I currently have a z800 running as a backup for my nas, but it’s overkill and uses a lot of power. I also had to do some weird stuff to get set up properly. This setup might actually work for me. I have a bunch of mini pcs I could probably use. I just need to be able to add a 10gbe nic and I’ll be good to go.

Nah bro. Just tell the agent to be a super duper distinguished software developer and write no bugs and keep the code maintainable /s
