Did you play it at the time it was released or did u try to go back later? Skyrim was and is a legendary game for a reason, to each their own but in its day it was undeniably the best RPG game in existence and it held that title for years! The story is excellent. Games like this and enshrouded will also never achieve full enjoyment in those that don’t bother reading the game lore. If yo skip all the books and never read any I cans see why you wouldn’t get as immersed as say in the Witcher 3 story where you have more cutscenes fed to you. And don’t get it messed up, witcher 3 is a legend too and probably my all time favourite. But it did not offer me the same replayability Skyrim does. And the last point to Skyrim is it runs good on my potato spec laptop so I can play it on about anything!

Today I Learned@lemmy.world•TIL: There are 27.4 Empty Homes for Each Homeless Person in the U.SEnglish
1·25 days agoYes your right I suppose what I’m getting at is the whole give a man a fish saying. Yes for a lot of the homeless that step may be all they need I know homeless with jobs using other people they know addresses for work and bank accts and such but if you don’t have anybody even that step can be insurmountable. Maslow’s hierarchy and what not, shelter and food are pretty much ur most basic needs and anything more is useless without that. Add access to reasonable healthcare and perhaps homelessness could be solved.

Today I Learned@lemmy.world•TIL: There are 27.4 Empty Homes for Each Homeless Person in the U.SEnglish
3·25 days agoHousing the homeless just gets them to stop sleeping on benches temporarily. It helps YOU from seeing the “unsightly hobos” in ur community. It does not solve the core issues that their having a hard time participating in our society, and is a band aid solution. Homeless people either have mental issues that need mended, drug issues that need mended, or have fallen on hard times but still need not only a home but a job to hold down that will pay for their housing and food. If it was as simple as putting homeless up in houses we would have eradicated this issue decades ago if nothing to keep the bourgeoisie from having to see the poors. Without the means to maintain and upkeep their homes they will just end up on the street again in no time.

Technology@lemmy.world•Microsoft confirms Windows 11 is about to change massively, gets enormous backlash - NeowinEnglish
1·29 days agoI have not used open scad or freecad! The thing about fusion that works so well for us at work is we can design prototypes and 3d print them out of plastic, and if the test fit goes well we can then move it over to our plasma machine and cut the parts from sheet stock then weld together to make our component. We also do some more component design (think central inflation systems though wheel hubs) but the more advanced stuff the boss handles. For us to adopt at work I think it would have to have compatibility with fusion 360 as that’s what my boss uses primarily and we have dozens maybe hundreds of design files to cut brackets for engine swaps gas tank mounts control arm brackets you name it. Suppose it’s probably a bit late for us to make any move to Linux, especially considering we just got a 4 axis cnc mill and I don’t think any Linux software will play with that

Technology@lemmy.world•Microsoft confirms Windows 11 is about to change massively, gets enormous backlash - NeowinEnglish
1·29 days agoSo rather than use a ready made software that works perfect for designing parts you suggest I build my own software? That is simply not a feasible solution, ESPECIALLY in a business environment lol. Your 2 in one shampoo comparison is kind of irrelevant, this is more akin to suggesting that instead of purchasing a car I design one from scratch! That doesn’t help adoption of Linux in the least, it is in fact the burden that keeps more windows users from adopting.

No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•How do middle aged family men handle it?
2·1 month agoI used to regularly work 55-60 hour weeks. For a while between 2 jobs then at one. After a decade or so I have a house and work 45 hours a week on average, I keep feeling like I should work more as the bills are still tough but fuck I don’t miss working more than I do. If u have to do it, it doesn’t seem as bad than if you don’t. Perspective matters a lot.

6·1 month agoTrump playing with tarrifs while him and all his buddies participate in insider trading has been the biggest, most blatant wealth steal in recent history that I am aware of. I tried playing the game with them and made a couple bucks, but I am not even playing with pennies compared to these assholes. They wrote the rules to make themselves win, and we will always be the losers.

Technology@lemmy.world•Tesla reintroduces 'Mad Max' Full Self-Driving mode that breaks speed limitsEnglish
62·2 months agoIt will always fall on the driver of the vehicle, as it should. I don’t care how self driving your car is, it has a steering wheel, an accelerator pedal, and a brake pedal and in the driver seat YOU are responsible with how you operate your vehicle. If u decide to trust a self driving feature that’s YOUR mistake. I would love to blame all these crashes on Tesla but the reality is that all these drivers aids and self driving cars having accidents is proof that you should be the one in control of your own vehicle. No crying about how the automotive nannies didn’t stop you from crashing the vehicle your driving, take responsibility. Don’t like it? Don’t trust the “self driving” nonsense (read: glorified advanced cruise control). Now one thing I don’t agree with is advertising as self driving, and I strongly believe self driving vehicles in public roadways should be ILLEGAL!

1·2 months agoDespite all these “safety features” accidents are far more common now than 20 years ago. “Driver aids” do nothing but encourage bad behaviour, better off just PAYING ATTENTION to the 2 ton steel cage your throwing down a concrete cheese grater at 60+mph…

No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•Why do so many boomers and even some gen x believe so peristently that if you dressup and show up in person anywhere you will get whatever you went there for?
3·2 months agoIt still kind of works in some industries. I got my last 3 jobs, and 2 of them “weren’t hiring”, by walking into the joint and asking to talk to the boss and saying I can start in 2 weeks I juat have to give my current biss notice. In demanding industries, showing up in person makes an impression, another app on a stack of applications gets you nowhere. Lots of people apply, few can talk the talk and walk the walk or actually do the work. I the auto industry you show up and impress the foreman or manager with your knowledge and your pretty much in. I know people that work in welding and a construction that this also works for. I also have siblings that are white collar that this absolutely does nothing for. Supposeit also depends on how much of a giant corp you work for, as I never work for monolithic corporations. If I can’t meet my boss I can’t work there.

Technology@lemmy.world•New Rules Could Force Tesla to Redesign Its Door Handles. That’s Harder Than It SoundsEnglish
3·2 months agoI knew. A guy with a fully shaved mr2 (yes that means no door handles). Doors opened with a remote to operate the latch. He also had a cable run down under the side skirt, so if it failed you could manually pull the cable to get the door oprn. This was put together by a 24 year old in school, not some “genius”
