Not sure if this falls under this topic but I am looking for a good ebook reader (eink). Any recommendations for something independent and secure?

I have the same problem. There is a Lemmy community for Jellyfin. Maybe we need to ask there. I run both right now. Plex and Jellyfin. I use Jellyfin whenever I can but still have plex for that issue

I am trying Delta chat. Seems easy to use and secure. (Not sure if they do voice yet but audio files for sure)

I get this all the time. 99% of the comments are from tech-illiterate people so I don’t care.

My brother surprised me recently by making a comment on “why would you to the length of tinkering if you could just use [commercial solution].” So we’ll have a chat when I see him next month. He is quite tech literate and the last one I would expect to say something like that.

Otherwise I flat out ignore the comments. People have no clue and are absolutely ignorant sheep blinded by convenience and comfort. Which I am convinced this is going to end the human race. 🤷🏻‍♀️

I am not sure if I need another huge hobby 😅 maybe a bit more ready to use would be better for me.

I would love to hear about PETG’s performance during a Scandinavian winter. I am on Canada and soil sensors I would pull over winter but some other stuff might be interesting to leave outside. For ventilation I could either use it outdoors (summer) or in the garage in winter unless it needs room temp to print. That would be an issue in winter.

Great points! Thank you. I will have to really think about this. It’s so tempting to go with Bambu as it’s much cheaper but I know what you are saying. I made that mistake with Cricut and I regretted it quickly.

What about software? Locked in? Can you design anywhere and load to print or do you have to design in their software?

What about the mini? I see that Prusa does get quite expensive quickly with shipping and taxes.

That’s good to know. I think the openness of Prusa is really appealing as long as it’s not more tinkering than printing.

Re farming I am more thinking about small enclosures for sensors for example. I am just learning about Lora networking and such and it would be great to build some sensors e.g. for soil moisture. The boards are really cheap but they need a case to protect from elements. I assumed I would need a different filament for anything outdoors but I haven’t looked into it yet.

We also had some smaller things break on the quad, tractor, equipment like caps or covers and stuffs hard to find. Not actual parts though. I get your point though I might have to brain storm a bit more on what exactly to make a good call on what the printer capability needs to be.

I just see the price for the P1S here in Canada and yeah, much cheaper! Might be a good choice for a beginner printer! Thanks for the input

Thanks. Right now I can’t see multi colour to be something that I need. I thought I need an enclosure if I am (eventually) aiming for something that’s used outdoors (UV protection?) but maybe I am getting ahead of myself here.
