Waking up everyday wondering what batshit crazy thing he had either just said or was going to say that day. It was exhausting. And then the pandemic hit and he was suggesting the most batshit crazy things about that. And then he somehow was able to politicize the most common sense things we could do. It was absolutely the most stressed I’ve ever been for that extended period of time.

I rarely completely disagree with people and I’m pretty good at empathizing and putting myself in their shoes. I may not agree with them but I can see where they’re coming from and can see some good in them. That is to say I usually don’t hate people. I hate this man. I will be glad when he’s not around to spread the chaos and just outright stupidity he spouts and surrounds himself with. This planet will be better off without him in it.

I have worked for a university for over 25 years so I have seen in all. My first wife, who also worked for the same university, worked in a computer lab in the psych dept and they would have the most domain specific intelligent people with no common sense whatsoever. Her and a colleague used to joke about the PhD students “I bet she runs with scissors”.

I hate Java with the white hot passion of a thousand suns. It is baked into so many admin tools for hardware (Dell, Cisco, etc) and trying to connect to older hardware that requires a security model that isn’t supported anymore or has expired certs that are never getting updated is a giant pain in the ass. Run anywhere my ass. I have to keep special VMs with just the right version of Java and all the necessary tweaks (like having to tell it that certain older encryption methods are ok) to even access some of these tools. I’ve even had to surplus hardware that was perfectly fine accept for the fact I could configure it because of some stupid Java thing. In short Fuck Java with a rusty wire brush.

Yeah and it works the other way sometimes too. My wife’s car had one of those flatbed delivery trucks back into her car and just peel the whole driver’s side open like a can opener. I mean it literally looked like wolverine took a single claw down the entire side. I thought for sure they’d total it. But because it had so few miles on it even though it was still an 8 year old car they just fixed it because it was worth more than the 75% cost of repairs limit. I think the total repair bill was like 10k.

Oohh let’s try an experiment. I have never been to c/vegan even though my stepson and his wife are vegan so I guess I might have a reason to … sorta.
