My comment was in reference to the “GOG caught using AI tools” part, not the scam part. I didn’t bother to watch the video on the other half of the title.

You’ve mentioned pursuit of profit and executives cutting costs, but again that isn’t a fault of AI, that is a fault of the system. AI is a tool, like any other technology that we’ve made. I think it’s a waste of time to try and stop it, and any effort you put into stopping AI would be better spent on trying to fix/destroy the system that we have as a whole.

All other technology we have created has done what you say AI is doing, so your dislike of AI specifically doesn’t make sense to me based on those two things.

As I mentioned in my previous comment, technology has already gotten rid of so many jobs. It has also allowed them to do things much more efficiently. Does that not mean more profit for companies? Technology has always helped companies make more profit, so I don’t see how AI is any different.

I know the AI I’m thinking of isn’t on the market, hence why I said “if it ever”. I’d like to add that in my opinion, the actual threat of AI is if it straight up replaces human beings and can replicate what we can do uniquely as humans, in which case we will no longer have work to do.

I know people hate AI (I am included in that group), however trying to get companies to stop using AI is a waste of energy. I believe that technology is going to keep progressing, potentially at the cost of the human race, unless something fundamentally changes in our system. We’ve already gotten rid of multiple jobs and destroyed the environment due to technology, so I don’t see how AI is any different. Although I suppose AI actually has the power to straight up replace human beings if it ever becomes that intelligent.

Edit: AI is a new technology, but so was the car, computer, and smartphone. All of these things have changed the world for better or worse (I’d argue worse, I think anyone that looks at the dire state of our planet would agree). I merely make the claim that AI is the next thing of that. Hate it or like it, it is probably here to stay unless the system as a whole changes, which is where our energy should be focused.

The Outer Worlds 2 came out October 29th, 2025 (not even 4 months ago). So for it to already be at 30% 2 months after release gives me hope that it’ll go down much more next sale. I’m assuming it didn’t sell that well on steam just looking at number of reviews and all time player count peak.

I figured that the new update would come out for the 10th anniversary, but from the interview it sounds like it won’t. Eagerly awaiting it to start a new playthrough.

Didn’t mind the first one, but you are out of your mind if you think I would pay $70 for this game. Especially after they tried to sell it for $80 at first. Thank god that didn’t fly. Fuck you Microsoft.

It’s crazy too, because most games that launch for $70, you can just wait 3 months and then they’ll have a 30% sale. I will be picking it up this March, should go on sale for like 40%.

I’m actually torn on this philosophy.

On one hand, yea you’re not giving EA money, which is a win. But on another, when you don’t buy a game like Split Fiction, they make less money on that product. Money is the only thing EA cares about, and they track how much a product makes. So, if a game like Split Fiction doesn’t make as much money, they probably would be less inclined to make it in the future. Then we get stuck with shit like Fifa/Apex, since you know people are going to spend money on that regardless.

So in the end I still buy stuff like It Takes Two, because I support that work. That game was amazing. However, I tend to buy them on sale.

What makes you so upset over people “attacking” the AAA industry? Most of the big AAA players release literal garbage, games filled with anti-consumer practices. Not only do they tend to release “unfinished” like No Mans Sky did, but they also have DRM, microtransactions, third party launchers + accounts that take your data. Who cares if they get attacked? I honestly wish people would do more.

They have updated the game, for free, and still have no microtransactions. No third party launcher or account needed. Can be played offline. You buy the game, you get the game. That is RARE these days.

Should they have released the game in the first place? No. If you don’t support that, then don’t buy it. I don’t really like that, so I bought it on sale for like $30 instead of its full price of $60, which in my opinion was worth it.

There are plenty of problems in the gaming industry right now, I think NMS’s “redemption” arc is the least of your worries.

I would buy that one, but I got a 4k TV so I would like to have a 4k disc. The season 1 in 4k looked so good. Trust me though, if anyone else made them I would buy it.

Highly recommend you read Ultra-Processed People. I found that learning about what’s in the normal unhealthy snacks sort of makes you not want to eat them at all, which will make eating healthy snacks so much easier. Just my experience though.

They are currently working on Deadlock, which me and my friends play pretty much everyday, so yea I would consider them a developer.

I used a flip phone and eink device (Sunbeam F1 Pro Maple paired with Boox Palma) for 1.5 years after realizing I was addicted to my smartphone. Last month I switched back to just a smartphone (Pixel 9a w/ graphene OS). I loved using the flip phone, and I attribute that period of my life to big changes in how I see technology in general. However, I realized I didn’t really need that setup anymore, plus I never liked having to carry two devices with me. During that time I found what I need/want in a phone and can comfortably determine what is helpful and unhelpful for my life. Essentially I broke my addiction and these days barely use my phone.

I use POP!_OS. Works pretty much perfectly for me, although they just came out with a new cosmic desktop which I am not using (but looking into), so you might have a different experience than me. I have some issues like FPS in deadlock slowly degrading (I think if I use steam overlay) or sometimes games with third party launchers (like Mass Effect) just wouldn’t work until I tinkered around. These aren’t dealbreakers for me though. Most games work out of the box for me. If you don’t want Pop OS, I’ve heard decent things of bazzite as well for gaming.

I barely knew what linux was before I watched pewdiepies video on it a long time ago. Just knew that some people on steam would complain about games not running on it, so I never bothered to look into it, since that is basically all I use my computer for. However, over the past 2 years I have been becoming more aware of my individual footprint. Something I noticed was that I will complain about things I think are “wrong” with the world, and then not do anything about them. One of those things was Microsoft (or big tech companies in general). I hate them, yet I would be using their product/service. Literally giving money to something I don’t like.

I honestly have never enjoyed learning about computers and coding, I’ve tried and it’s never felt fun to me. I’m definitely not the “target” of linux I guess. When I turn on my computer, I just want to play some games or do homework/work with no fuss.

However, Linux is at a point to where I, someone who has no want or need to learn computers, can switch and mostly use it out of the box. So I just switched, because if I’m gonna sit here and shit on Microsoft for not doing what I think is right, then I need to stop using their product. Capitalism means as long as they make money, they aren’t gonna change a damn thing.
