I wouldn’t. But you do you. It would be interesting to hear how well an IRL campaign would work to get users on the Fediverse.

Whoooosh.
Idk what the mod team’s philosophy is on incorporating member feedback vs shaping it to mod teams vision, but fwiw, here’s mine.
I don’t want to see every other post being about Trump either. But I also want conversation to happen. The compromise solution seems to be a mega thread; conversations continue without flooding everyone’s feed. For however this temp rule is in place, delete offending posts and redirect to the mega thread.
So 2015. What’s next? Crossfitters are obnoxious?
A sheep, a drum, and a snake fall off a cliff.
Bah-dum-tsss.
I will probably personally benefit from a simple financial perspective. I’m a white collar worker in an industry that will grow under Trump and I have a healthy investment portfolio.
A lot of that gain is going to route to places like Planned Parenthood and to supporting a friend whose life has already been destroyed by reproductive rights rollbacks in her home state. I need to do my homework on supporting victims of Israel’s genocide in Gaza; I want to put more towards that than I have been. I haven’t even wrapped my head around what this is going to mean for Ukrainians. And immigrants to the US. And women in the US beyond just reproductive rights. And LGBT+ people in the US. It’s a lot.
I certainly like it better, it’s an improvement, but “game changer” is strong. I’m slowly replacing gadgets to USB C through attrition. The charge port has ceased to be the failure point for any of the gadgets I own. My pile of spare cables is still excessive, but moving further back in my storage closet because I need them less and less.
I have a couple online stores I check, otherwise I just use the Google Shopping tab. Auto parts don’t seem to be spammed up as much as other things yet. Heck, online Walmart often times has what I need.
No, totally separate times in my life. Though that would have been an interesting way to dispose of the cockroaches. Based on number of eggs, I probably would have needed another 20 scorpions.
Depends on the job, special tools and workspace needed, and time.
I recently had a mechanic replace a wheel hub assembly for me. He sourced the parts, finding them for about 5% cheaper than I could find them. His labor rates were very reasonable. And I don’t have a lot of time for that sort of job, nor space to do it efficiently where I currently live. Could I have done it? Yes. But he got it done in 3 hours where it would have taken me the better part of the weekend.
I had cockroaches. They were all supposed to be male but one or more started laying eggs. I noped right out of that one.
I had a black Emperor Scorpion. He was a chill little dude. Mildly venomous. Fine pet for someone who can handle that / not young kids.
Omg, what a beauty. Does she live outside in her shed all year round? What temperature range is she happy/healthy at?
Eh? From Drop Dead Fred? Was she even in a James Bond movie or am I thinking of the wrong actor?
from what I’ve gathered from my coworkers being a “machinist” isn’t so much of a viable trade anymore. Everyone pays like shit now.
Yes, agreed at least for my industry. My company hires “machinists” with no experience or education, gives them minimal training on how to push a button and not stick their hand in running machinery, and expects at least half to leave for a job that offers ten cents an hour more as soon as they can. They killed the pension for new employees and wonder why no new employees have any “loyalty” to the company.
I’ve always had massive respect for welders. That shit is an art. Not so with the folks we are hiring these days. Fast food fry cook wages don’t get you artisan welders.
Yeah, I think that’s just Star Wars in this case.
Jeebus, that’s a lot of work. “Americans are loud and smell bad” seems so much easier.
Maybe Americans are lazy time efficient with their communications. What a zinger.
Director’s Cut available, now with 63.8% more slow-mo!
Ever seen Superman III where Richard Pryor’s character realizes there’s rounding in the numbers of his company’s payroll, taxes, etc, so he writes a program to skim those partial cents into his account and he ends up shocked at the amount? And he knew it was illegal and everyone who learned of it knew it was illegal?
Companies profiting off AI trained on stolen material feels like that, but if the cops who discovered Pryor’s crime were to say “eh, partial cents aren’t a real thing anyway. No harm, no foul” and let Pryor keep skimming.
