This is kind of what I had in mind when I first heard of the “gig economy”. But it turns out that’s just job market enshittification…

Looks like this in the end basically. They just reverse engineer the price so the tax gets it to the target price.

In the EU prices have to already include tax, so steam prices are exactly what it costs at checkout
Same here but with a 100. Had to spam click on payment but it went through after a couple of tries

Steam Hardware@sopuli.xyz•"Valve’s new Steam Controller has a major problem for PC games not on Steam"

Steam Hardware@sopuli.xyz•After a week testing Valve's new Steam Controller, it's better in almost every way - but still a bit of a niche proposition
5·1 month agoExactly. So many opinions of people that have clearly never really used the previous steam controller flying around. It’s a repeat of when that one came out and reviewers panned it because they didn’t understand what it could do

It was hard at first. Now I’m about 600 kanji in, and while they are still hard they are starting to make sense. New ones are quite a lot easier than before because of pattern recognition, and I’m even able to sometimes guess reading/meaning. It has also massively improved my learning, I had always heard that it wasn’t necessary nowadays, and I’ve been studying on off for a long time now, but the difference on this last cycle is massive

6·3 months agoThe bases and American soldiers are pretty much hated in Spain. We didn’t even want to be in NATO in the first place, and US international policy is deeply unpopular here.
I really hope this whole situation causes us to finally kick them out. The US is not an ally, wasn’t one ever either (except during the dictatorship of Franco, not a popular time), and we should stop dancing to its warmongering music

In Japan, the conviction rate when something goes to trial is 99%. The main reason for this is that prosecutors will never bring a case to trial if they are not 100% sure they can win it. This of course has a lot of problems, from difficult to prove crimes like rape never going to trial, to the presumption of innocence when you sit in front of the judge being practically nil, to prosecutors doing everything in their power to convict after a trial starts even if it turns out they were wrong (even by withholding evidence).
Those are the reasons “innocent until proven guilty” is such an important concept to have, and it’s completely incompatible with assuming “the accused is more often than not guilty”
