These types of stories are also unfortunately heavy duty survivorship bias. The majority of people who started websites like this never went anywhere and you’ve never heard of them.

I agree, and the performance thing was my suspicion as well. It just seems off to have a large scale siege game be so small.
To be honest 5v5 still seems kinda small on paper to me, but I haven’t played it.
The focus on player dropoff is always misleading. Free to play games always lose massive numbers of players within the first week generally. What matters is who’s left, and what the company’s operating budget is. 10k players or even less can be plenty for a small team for instance. With such small player team sizes in-game, that would also be more than enough for a populated feeling queue.

Welcome to the stock market: where the money’s made up and the rules don’t matter!
Did you marinate the tofu? It looked very ham/sausage like at a glance!
Chat, is this true?

Wow, what a cool concept!

Not always a good plan when you’re managing business relationships. It’s great when you can have that kind of dialog with a client, but diplomacy is a tricky dance sometimes.

The team size is so baffling to me in this game, but I’ve been wondering after watching this if it’s actually a performance thing.
It sounds like the game is woefully poorly optimized, and I wouldn’t be surprised if it can’t handle a more fun number of players.
Mine wants to smell it and also eat it.

Hustle culture is a cancer honestly. Way too many people have internalized it and feel guilty for resting. I put myself in this bucket too, but I’m working on undoing that cycle these days.
Not going hard 100% of the time doesn’t make you lazy, it makes you healthy. Lazy is so far on the other end of the spectrum.

There’s a general strike on Friday? I’ll try to participate. I had no idea.
I noticed this when I visited Marseille recently. I couldn’t believe how cheap pizza is!
It’s not uncommon to see large pizzas for $30+ in my area (which tbf is expensive even for america). I think American pizza does often have more toppings, but not enough more.

As a small designer who puts a lot of effort into my work, I also hate shit like this. That amount of money would literally be life changing for me and they would have gotten something actually new out of it.

In a couple years they’ll right the same shit about why it’s a square again

I’m a graphic designer, and I’ve been kind of amazed how many people like to show me the graphic/logo/whatever AI made for them. They don’t seem to get that they’re just rubbing in my face that they don’t want to pay an artist…
It always looks kinda crappy too, so I just have to fake the reaction all around.

If you have access to ham hock, look up Congri. It’s a Cuban beans and rice dish that’s very cheap to make and quite tasty.
It might sound like more of a side, but I’ve found it’s plenty hearty enough for a meal.
I can see you’re in the UK, so this might be completely different for you, but another thing I’ve found lately is that chicken drumsticks are extremely cheap compared to every other cut of chicken. I can get about 8lbs of drumsticks for $8 from costco. I bake them, tear off the meat, and freeze it for use in whatever. I also save the bones so I can make chicken stock once I have enough.
Not sure if that will hold true across the pond, but I’ll throw it out there anyway just in case.
Edit: I realize you said no beans and rice, so I guess I’m not helping in that regard with this, sorry! 😅

I second this. As they say, a journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step. It’s a lot less overwhelming to tackle problems in small pieces than by looking at everything at once.
There’s something ironic about the winking snoo saying this
