As a person who lived in AZ and has been WAY closer to groups of javelina than I would like to be.
- They are huge and not to be fucked with.
- They will tear up and any all vegetation they can.
- If one wanted to, it could fuck up your car.
- Go Pig Queen go!

Linux@programming.dev•Flow chart for choosing a Linux distro because I disagreed with the first oneEnglish
2·20 days agoHi, random new Linux user, as someone who games, and does Inkscape / Davinci stuff. Bazzite is awesome, mostly just works. Wife uses it too now and it’s pretty great. Only one issue I have is in relation to Bluetooth acting up on my system. Occasionally.

Games@lemmy.world•After stretching the definition of 'beta' for 8 years, Escape From Tarkov is finally hitting 1.0English
2·2 months agoHonestly a good way I found is with small streamers on twitch. Find someone who looks cool and say hi, most of the community is nice and if you ask for help on quests or if they play with viewers a good amount will say yes. This leads to getting into smaller discords with generally pretty cool people in them. Some of my recommendations are MortakkW, WhosJason, and McHayla. All pretty good people. All different vibes.

162·2 months agoSuper hyped for 1.0, been playing for about 2 years now 1.4kish hours and its just gets more fun with every update. Can’t wait to actually be able to escape. Perfect game if you want an FPS that doesn’t require turbo fast uber accurate wrist breaking flick shots. Hell chilling in one place for 5-10 is a smart strategy sometimes.

Mildly Interesting@lemmy.world•'It's like being in Greece': The US neighbourhood where cars are bannedEnglish
171·2 months agoAs someone who just moved out of the Mesa, Arizona area. About 10 miles from here. And lived in AZ for around 25 years. A few points, It is hotter than Satan’s asshole after ghost pepper chilli night. Your cloths that you are wearing will be physically hot against your skin during summer, in about 5-10 minutes. The gap / crack-fill in the road becomes soft and malleable in summer. Sure there are things to do, but for the next 4-6 hours drive, you are going to the same place that many people are going to and you will be lucky to find anywhere not crowded or secluded. The rent a bike and scooter prices are not always great. It gets hot, like 85 Fahrenheit or more by April and it doesn’t begin to cool off until October - November. 110 Fahrenheit or more is insanely hot. The Urban Sprawl is huge, and combined with the intense heat, clouds go around most of the Sprawl. And unless you have a nice paying job and your shit together, you can’t afford to live here. But the light rail and the self driving cars are kinda cool.
edit: Holy air pollution batman.

Atheism@lemmy.world•About the fine tuning argumentEnglish
41·3 months agoSounds like the watchmaker argument for God’s existence. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Watchmaker_analogy fun stuff. Here’s some questions, is kids getting cancer part of that design? why can plants do a photosynthesis and animals generally speaking, can’t? Seems like there are better ways of getting nutrients to a living body than eating. Why aren’t there 2 watchmaker? or 3 or more? Did the watchmaker intentionally make things that don’t work or are bad? That doesn’t seem very intelligent to me. Another fun one is Anselms argument, or The Ontological Argument for God’s Existence. Final piece, I consider myself to be an epiphenominalist rather than atheist.
edit: typos cause autocorrect works everytime. And a missing word

5·3 months agoStarted playing just before last season and it was pretty fun. BUT they recently sold to Krafton. So good chance this is the last good season for the game/devs.
I got Daniel, nothing too crazy besides getting a shitload of right-wing propaganda texts and call around elections, and the occasional account at a store under the same number.
