The manufacturers of those off brand batteries are unethical because they almost always use inferior cells and less robust protection circuits, and in many cases have less than advertised capacity.

It is both. And one is necessary for the other.

I mean you’re looking at what it will take to fully control guns in America.
Any second thoughts?

This is terrible advice. They can and will track you down. Only way this might be viable is if everyone turns off their transmissions and the transmitter changes location constantly or is deployed via drone sporadically.

I mean there is a limit on what an dedicated ev platform can share with its gas counterpart.
The Mach-e is an extreme example of what not to do with a heritage brand.
But the Silverado ev is at least a truck, and both blazers were crossovers.
Subaru is a prime example of the BS I’m talking about. No electric crosstalk, but instead a solterra. No outback, but a trail seeker.

This is what Chevy is doing. Silverado, Blazer equinox, etc
Almost every other manufacturer is afraid of sullying their precious model “heritage” by putting it on an ev. So instead they make new models or sub brands, and fuck it up more often than they don’t.

Orbital data enters aren’t happening. A million starlinks aren’t happening. And musk will eventually die. I’m only defending a reasonable size of constellation.

I can’t afford a boat, but I benefit from the goods and food that they transport.

This conversation is a waste of time no matter how much of a nazi Elon is.
This is what the sky would be like in the majority of science fiction. If you want space exploration, there will be space infrastructure, and as time goes on that infrastructure will increase both in amount and size, not to mention the traffic to and from.
It is like complaining about the clutter of the marina while wanting to explore the ocean.

I thought we were defederating lemmy.ml?

Because Honda Japan is too its own ass to give Honda America credit for doing a phenomenal job in the Honda Prologue.

Ambulances and fire engines are probably an example of a top choices to convert to ev. They don’t drive far at all and they are parked at a central location most of the time.
Also puts incentives to install solar panels at hospitals and fire stations.
I don’t think I want Trump dying while doing what he loved.

We’re reachable by propaganda. Arrest Rupert Murdoch next time he comes home.

The furthest node I can reliably hit on Meshtastic is about 60 miles from me. Sporadically there’s a node I see 110 miles away.
With Meshcore I can sporadically hit something 300 miles away, but locally isn’t reliable because the density isn’t as good in my area. Too many dead spots.
Ultimately I’m going to use both, but I’m not putting up any meshcore infrastructure because it’s not FOSS and Meshtastic has more inertia here.
Buy two devices and flash both. See what your locals are doing.

I’ve tried both side by side, ultimately you can tune out Meshtastic to cover a metro area pretty well. Mesh core is better at linking regions together, but ultimately it’s not fully open source. Like you gotta buy some firmwares.
My local area, and many others have active contributors to Meshtastic apps and firmware, I feel more comfort in that than reaching people in the next state over.
I know a blind person who uses an LLM for coding assistance. Mind you he doesn’t need to use it, I’ve known him for 20 years and he did just fine without it.
