  • I’m guessing they weighed their options and somehow thought it was the best option at the time. Maybe their beliefs didn’t align with the Taliban, or they didn’t believe they could leave the area and didn’t want to become 1 of the tens of thousands of civilians that were killed who weren’t combatants. One of them granted asylum, and one being treated like shit, hopefully they’ll get lucky and they’ll just detain him and let him go when some politician realizes it may lose more support from military members.

  • Not to mentioned the U.S. deployed something like 2.7 million people to Vietnam over the years. ~58,000 U.S. soilders died. Somewhere between 1-3 million people died in the war. Everyone lost that war. With deaths between 95%-98% not being U.S. troops though… It’s hard to argue when someone says the U.S. didn’t lose. We should have never been there, it was horrible… but any proud boy I meet in a bar who knows the numbers is going to call that a win… Because they don’t care about anything other than how many “bad people” died, and they consider anyone who looks/talks/acts different, bad people.

  • Firefox’s main funding was from Google being their default search engine. Which of course means anything searched in Google (via the URL field) is recorded to the external IP address logs. So unless you are going directly to the website or changed the search engine in Firefox, yes Google was recording said information (or at least compiling the numbers for data analytics) to use for advertising purposes.

  • Proceeds to take a used car sales job, schedule appointments for people to come see the vehicles and bake edible cookie dough in the windshield and feed them to the staff right before they arrive. Recommend they take a test drive down to mom and pop cookie shop set up by my partner down the street.

Future self: failed at selling cars, but ate a lot of cookies.

  • There are twice as many NFL players on their standard rosters than there are billionaires in the U.S.

Mathematically the ~850 billionaires make up 0.00025% of the population.

The average person is about 22 times more likely to get struck by lightning than to become a billionaire.

There’s a lot of people trying that brown nosing tactic, yet don’t realize there isn’t room on the roster for infinite members, there is a fairly finite amount of funds, and for someone to move up, the money has to come from others. Roughly the net worth of 5,000 U.S. families given to one person. But in reality, the devaluing of wealth from near every individual in the U.S. so they can have it.
