  • The Amtrak station in St. Louis is not a great spot to leave anything of value. I live in St. Louis so I’m not one of these crazies that thinks my city is a war zone but that lot gets plenty of attention from thieves breaking windows looking for guns and money.

And SoIL folks don’t go to Chicago, remember there is a substantial number of Illinoisans calling for everything south of Springfield to be split into the 51st state. No it wouldn’t be sustainable or make sense but they hate being “controlled” by cook county

  • Walk in the Vatican City or il duomo in Italy, or St. Paul’s, St. George’s, or Westminster in England, or la sagrada familia in Barcelona… or a large number of other mega churches. Once inside you’ll see they’re comparable to modern mega churches but made ENTIRELY OF MARBLE instead of cheap ass sticks and drywall like American buildings. If you’ve ever been sitting in the pews of il duomo you’ll know you’re truly in a mega church, and once you’re done with service, there like 6 saints entombed a hundred yards from the pulpit, still inside mind you and nowhere close to any of the entrances

Yea they were an affordable option for like 2 years then became a novelty that trust fund kids use for a few years before settling into mansions.

My mom bought some land (.5 acre)and built a tiny home on it, cost over $100k altogether still for a 700sqft 1b/1bth with a loft that can have a sleeping bag if needed but is really storage. Works for her needs and is half the cost of any of the homes in her town that are all falling down but still 200k for some reason…

  • My work had something like this to detect drug usage on premises for a while (it was and is a problem still) and it costed like 30k capital and 2-3 opex a year. We had it for like a year and only took it out because there were too many false flags and security didn’t and doesn’t have the staff to be chasing down every alert anyway.

It was neat that on paper it was able to detect different drugs, heroin, weed, meth all flagged different alerts with 2 of those contacting police when detected. Unfortunately it was only like 70% accurate and we didn’t/don’t have enough security staff to use it properly so it’s gone now.

  • I grew up in the country, while all of that did happen… it wasn’t like every meal was that. Eggs depended on how many eggs the dozen or so chickens laid recently, most chickens don’t lay industrial quantities… tomatoes only in mid/late summer when the garden is fruiting. deer only after deer season, even with my dad and I tagging out each year that isn’t enough deer for every meal to be deer meat (venison lol we don’t call it that). We mushroom hunted (foraging lol) every once in a while but again, wild pecker-heads aren’t prevalent enough for any population to eat regularly
