Just make your inputs are right. Garbage in, garbage out.

Silicon Valley kind of encourages maximalism. Companies are expected to grow and it is hard to grow beyond the monopoly you’ve built for yourself.
Also, not everyone is willing to take the deal where you go retire with your ballerina wife to go become a wildlife photographer. Some people like being a businessman.

The idea that humans only have five senses is crap and a lot of those senses are ways to help self regulate. And it turns out that, as people can have bad eyesight or the ability to smell things, people can also be bad at those self regulating senses.

It isn’t a conscious choice, but something where I’ll identify that I want to do a certain activity when I have free time or I find myself coalescing around a set of interests. I’ll make the choice or find that I’m changing what I picked based on different tasks at work.
I don’t think of the reasons when I make the choice, but I do recognize the trend after I’ve made the choice. It has also helped me recognize when to park certain hobbies that I’m working on because I know I’ll come back to them, but I know my mind needs something else and it is better to let my mind go for something different than to burn out completely on one hobby because I killed the joy I had in it.

It is generally cheaper where I live because towns have to build affordable housing and it is considered more acceptable to have poor elderly people than poor people with children.

I’m talking about kids texting each other.

But now I have to potty train my pet rock.

You would need to make them dumber/more controlled. A dumb phone with unlimited texting is still going to be a distraction.

That’s probably the point.

It will be like Android. You have to use their app store to install new programs.

But for am I supposed to display my dominance over my children by asking them for information?

My Child, you need to let me lobotomize my political rival for the good of myself Bajor.

How Not To Build

I think I’m generally pragmatic; it has been a benefit in my career.
I value pragmatism since it means that actual change that benefits people can be implemented over holding out for a perfection that may never come. That said, I’m willing to tolerate some tradeoffs because I will evaluate change against the system functioning as is and some people don’t like it if they don’t like the dysfunctional part but the cost of correcting it is worse.

So nothing improved but everything became worse?

The problem that the current Reddit leadership had was that they didn’t want to share power with the stakeholders it had previously relied on to generate growth. Reddit was getting free content, moderation, and even some dev resources. There was a path in which Reddit could have maintained its ecosystem while still being profitable, but spez chose to be like every other social network.

Regarding activities, I usually find I crave certain activities when I get burnt out on other activities and need a break from that activity while staying occupied. For instance, if I’m doing a lot of writing at work, I may crave a spatially stimulating activity at home. It is my mind signaling I’m doing too much of one activity and I need a different one to keep from wearing out.

Ellen Pao was such a better CEO.
You should post this to UnpopularOpinions.
My understanding, and this is very basic and not well understood, is that the research is only really starting to probe this topic and some issues may be related to the neurospiciness of some people.
To use a machine related metaphor, I don’t know if they’ve figured out if the issue is with the sensor, the wiring from the sensor, or the control board not being wired to read the sensor. It could also be a mix of different reasons that just happens to show to in a set of people.
It is a long winded way of saying I don’t have an answer to your question.
