KDE is better for GUI customization while Gnome is more plug and play IMO.

25·5 months agoIt’s disheartening seeing screen readers on this list. That seems predatory.
I saw this on Mastodon if that helps

Thank you for your reply! I’ll check it out. I need to try remounting and double checking cables still, I’ve just been putting it on the back burner. Oddly enough I experience this problem much less often when using Gnome rather than KDE.

To my understanding it’s more based on the phone model rather than carrier. I use graphene, which only supports pixels.

2·7 months agoMy pocket mirror had a copyright date of 1914, but it’s reasonable to assume it’s a bit newer than that. It’s probably around 100 years old.
At 12 I was too scared of downloading most programs for fear of viruses, if I had been asked to partition a drive I would have cried.
It’s there, it’s just not necessary for launching an application. It’s the same as on Android.
I started dual booting Ubuntu and Windows when I was 19 or so and when I’d go back to my Windows partition to do something I realized I had either forgotten or never learned a lot of how to navigate it. I opened it and went “Where is my terminal?” and then remembered cmd and started using it to look for a directory before remembering that’s never how I’d done things on Windows. It was an odd experience.
A big reason I use Lemmy is because I like all the FOSS discussion lmao.

Linux@programming.dev•End of 10 - Windows ten is ending. Microsoft wants you to buy a new computer. But what if you could make your current one fast and secure again?
5·8 months agoThere’s a desktop iso available for Bazzite with either Gnome or KDE plasma and both work normally.

I somehow could not find the Mint install so I went with Ubuntu Mate. It was fine.
