Conservatives don’t trust Democratics and therefore don’t care about this vote. Only the Left base would care because it is clearly a slight at Mamdani who is basically the most exciting Democratic politician right now. Nothing was gained by doing this. The party is positioning themselves to lose if Mamdani is successful or fails over the next few years.
Centralists won’t care about this vote because it’s purely performative.
