They did it with Iraq, Afghanistan and Vietnam. They will definitely do it again if they see a chance to remove the Iranian regime and replace it with their own.

The USA and the UK were massive supporters of Saddam and his reign until we decided he was no longer useful. Literally giving him billions and billions of weapons.
