Nope. It’s a marmot. And it’s partially the point. I keep running into content online claiming to be about groundhogs, but are yellow-bellied marmots instead. They are same genus though. All groundhogs are marmots, but only some marmots are groundhogs.

Hm, I’ve seen marmots IRL but I think I would mainly tell the difference through context.
I’d say groundhogs look a bit less chunky than the average marmot.
