The Constitution is a piece of paper with words on it that no one pays attention to any longer.

I teach at a local university and it provides some free parking in addition to paid parking. Of course, the paid spaces are closer to the buildings, but at least there’s some free spaces, too.

No one has the energy to invent new ones first thing in the morning.

I started with an iPhone 5. I replaced it after the second battery started dying with an iPhone 8. Replaced that with an iPhone 16 when the second battery started dying. I always have them in an OtterBox Defender case and take good care of them, so batteries become the deciding factor.

It’s certainly curved.

I’m more emotionally open than anyone I know in my age group. I don’t think my father quite understood it, and some past girlfriends were uncomfortable with it. My wife, on the other hand, thinks it’s just fine. But even so, I’ve learned that it’s in my best interest to keep things to myself with certain people and in certain situations.

I had a serious motorcycle accident in my early 40s. It was the kind that usually results in death, but I got off easy with a shattered collarbone, two broken ribs, and some road rash. I remember the initial impact and then lying on my back looking up at the sky, but nothing else. That nothing made me realize what death would be like, and it freaks me out. Thinking about how someday I’ll just stop existing fills me with immense dread. I understand why some people are religious, it gives them an alternative to that dread.

Perhaps I won’t always feel this way.
