I think everybody has pretty much nailed how to verbally respond, but I think it’s important to mention how to internally respond to it.

Any advice given should be honestly considered. It’s human nature to think our own idea is better than anyone else’s.

Sometimes the situation is unique and other people don’t know all the finer details like you do, and what worked for them just doesn’t apply to you.

Other times, they may know more you think they do. Don’t take it as gospel, but consider any warnings or possible solutions that didn’t cross your mind before.

More information and diverse perspectives create better solutions.

I feel like a fool for getting pumped about Fetterman. He really sounded like a stand up guy before he ran for senator. But, considering the alternative was Dr. Oz, I don’t think I would have changed my vote even if I knew what I know now.

Besides the family that lives in my house, I don’t really interact with much of my family. I invite my dad and his wife for holidays, and I try not to talk with my mom any more than absolutely possible. (Unrelated to politics, she’s at least got that part right)

I’ve unfriended people on Facebook for it, but that’s mostly ceremonial as I only use Facebook to message certain long distance friends.

If anyone has decided to cut me out for my politics, it would only save me the trouble of having to interact with pieces of shit.

I guess if it was a few hundred, I would just put it in the bank with the rest of my money where it would go towards food, bills, and any other day to day expenses. Probably anything over $1000 would go directly towards debt.

EDIT: I forgot about the by the end of the day rule. I can’t just save it for later. We’d do a Sam’s club run and put the rest towards a bill.

I mean, that the larger the group, the more assholes you will find in that group. Communism works great for families, and households. They look out for and support each other without keeping financial logs of who owes what.

Try to do that on a country wide scale, and there will be people whining that they don’t have enough, or they do too much, or that others deserve less, and they will lie and cheat and manipulate their way into getting more and more and more.

It’s a great system, far too good for us stupid, selfish humans to ever accomplish.
